Welcome . My name is Janice. I couldn't help but reply to

your posting. My dh Troy (38) and I (37) have adorable identical twin

girls with ds. Cassandra and na are 18 months and such a joy.

We didn't know the girls' had ds prenatally however when they were

delivered by C-section 5 weeks early, I commented to myself while on

the chopping block, " Gee, she (Cassandra second born) looks like she

has down syndrome. " This was confirmed when I was in the recovery

room and the neonatologist came in, said the babies were doing fine

then lower her head and sat down. She then said, " however they have

ds. Both girls have it, which is rare. " How did I feel? I felt no

different than I would if the girl's didn't have ds. I guess I was

ignorant at that time of the health concerns associated with ds.

Anyways the girls' are healthy with common childhood sicknesses like

mild winter asthma, colds, fevers, ear infections and strep throat.

They're developing well of course with delays but they seem to be

progressing so well (and fast since beginning to creep.) Both girls

stand on their own. na has taken three steps so far.

Enough of me babbling of their successes. I could type for hours.
