It feels good to have that confirmation on paper even though you already knew in your heart. Charlyne Mom to Zeb 11 DS/OCD

Hmmm. Is that new or something? Maddie's autism surfaced at about the age of 18 months. WEll, having the label is helpful and hopefully will get the appropriate education now!! Good luck. Guest guest
That's what we're hoping for. I assume her report will be complete before his IEP. Next year he goes to a new school - high school. The new people may not be so accomodating without a formal diagnosis (his teacher this year did all teh great behavioral stuff). Last year his teacher said he wasn't autistic, just a loner. And he would give him his space. This year the teacher used some behavioral rewards etc, and it worked so very well. He made the dean's list this year! Hopefully, with the diagnosis, we'll be able to set up some similar stuff next year. Guest guest
No. I think the formal diagnosis of autism, one of the criterion is that onset was before the age of 3. They really need to up date it, i think. Some kids, like down's, are slow to reach milestones of any kind. It should be adjusted for those kids. But, you know how it is!!!
