Guest guest
Hi Laurie, The only side-effect I've seen with the Miralax in is GAS!! He's a gassy guy to begin with but the Miralax does seem to add to that! I mix it in water, but takes everything by g-tube so it doesn't matter what I mix it in. I can tell you that it disolves completely in the water...it isn't grainy and it doesn't have an odor! Dr. Hyman told me you can divide it up into smaller doses and give it a couple of times during the day. The manufacturer directions are to give " up to the line " which is about 1 capful per day in liquid. I give 1/2 that much because the higher dose doesn't seem to make things move any faster for him and the additional gas really bothers him. I divide it into two doses [about 1/4 cap each] in 4 ounces of water and give him an additional 4 ounces of water as well. So he gets 8 ounces of liquid with each dose. I know that any liquid, especially water, is key in making laxatives work well. I know you are having trouble getting liquid or anything else into him. Maybe you could try popsicles or...something that is made mostly of liquid to try to get him more hydrated? Watch his belly area to make sure he doesn't become distended. Good luck. I sure hope the Miralax helps Mic. Terry

I keep it on hand for whenever the kids have a problem. I would check with a doc first though Laurie before trying anyway. With Mic's issues being so complicated and just not known right now, it's best to take the wise route. Donna
