Guest guest
Hi Dedee, The only drug I can think of might be Cogentin. It is classified as a " antidyskinetic " . It is used to treat Parkinson's Disease, Tourette's Syndrome and the " adverse effects " of certain nervous system drugs. The docs have suggested it for to control the drooling that is related to the Risperdal, Zyprexa that he takes. We have held off because it can also have some other side effects [like constipation]. What I would suggest is that you find out the name of the drug and then do your own research on it. Then you can make an informed decision about whether you want to give it to your child. Believe me, I know more about the drugs that takes and that we have elected not to give him than I ever thought I would know or want to know!! When she is sick it gets worse, but we believe that it's one of her sensory problems. Plus, He seemed to be pushing the drugs, " take this for ADHD, this for Tics, this for bruxism " , We want to see what SI therapy does for her. Maddie used to grind horribly. We did the SI therapy and it worked. I bought mouth massagers and I was very diligent about getting in there and massaging her cheeks every time I found her doing it. Course, she was a lot younger then...if I did that now, she'd probably give me a good wollop!!! ;-) Donna
Guest guest
Sharon, I was wondering what exactly does the drug do though? do you remember? was it a sedative or what? does anyone else have experience w/ a drug for teeth grinding? I wouldn't want to give him a sedative, but if there is something else I would at least like to learn more about it. I worry so about his teeth! therapy has not helped this issue. DeDee Re: New/returning member ) and a few questions Sharon, my son also grinds his teeth terribly, but we have always been told there was nothing we could do about it. what RX was he going to give you for this? what was the down side? why didn't you use it? DeDee and he said he could write a script for her teeth grinding (which we did not do!!) -------------------------------------------------- Checkout our homepage for information, bookmarks, and photos of our kids. Guest guest
Dedee, Sorry, I don't recall him saying how it would affect the child and we don't see him until next month again. I can ask my husband if he remembers any other details. Sorry I can't be more specific, I know how it is when you are concerned about something with our dear children.
