Guest guest
Hi Irma, I need to put my two cents in. I haven't been very verbal lately. I have been involved in IEP issues with Zeb and a few other students. The staff at 's school not only have to be qualified but trained to meet his needs. If is not making the necessary progress to master his IEP goals, that's where and how you need to address the problems. You can use the lack of skills by the staff as one of the main reasons. You will need that forum to address your concerns to to bring about change. What's going on in school? Charlyne Mom to Zeb 11 DS/OCD
Guest guest
Good grief Irma!!!!!!!!!! I must be way behind, or missed many posts! I thought school was going well for this year? I knew he had health issues, but not trouble with the district. Boy, when you said you learned your lesson about taping IEP meetings, it reminded me to get a small recorder for Seth's meeting on the 12th. UGH!!!! I dread it! LOL Don't you feel sometimes like you can talk until you're blue in the face, and it doesn't get through? I'm having my problems getting through at school too. Must be the year, huh? I'm hoping to have a VERY smart friend go to Seth's meeting with me. LOL I know they will give me the run-around, and I'm just not quick enough, or know the laws well enough, to fight back. I have to sit and think about things, sometimes for days, before I get my thoughts together. That tends to hinder the IEP process! LOL I hope someone on the list can give you some help. I'm in no position to help anyone. I'm still trying to get the teacher to understand that Seth knows his colors. LOL That's been on his IEP for 4 years now. About time to move on. GADS!!!!!!! I can't believe that they mention funds to you. YIKES!!!! Even my district doesn't dare do that! That is one law that I do know. LOL That's plain and simple. It's all those other laws, the ones that can be interpreted differently by the district, that get me. OR the ones they SAY are district policy. UGH!!!!!!! They get me every time with those! LOL I'm such a sucker!!!!!!!! LOL Good luck to you Irma. Hope you get all your questions answered. Let us know how it goes? (((((hugs))))) Gail :-) Hi Gail, Ready for some reading? Sorry about the book. Well since I wrote to you in regards to following up on the autism staff training which is on his IEP. I've been in a pickle and can not rest until I cool down. One of those emotional moments that I do not want to regret expressing out in a negative way. You know shoot myself on the foot and damage him in the process because it back- fired. Taking it slow trying to work around this, so I've been busy researching around this. I did get behind on my messages as I've been busy doing my homework. Back to the drawing board like when I had learned was more than Downs, you know with the medical and educational arena to figure out why he was not like the others with Down's and once again on a mission trying to open many doors for services to address his needs the best way I can with the school as I once did with the middle school. You would think by now it be easy but nope. It might be the same school district but it does vary with school personnel and schools.

I need to convince the school district that they need to pay the staff to attend conferences/workshops to take advantage of the rare opportunity to learn from the most respected, experienced and knowledgeable professionals in the field. Irma, it is frustrating. Some professionals are just too egotistical. For goodness sakes, hairdressers have to do refresher courses in order to keep up with the changes in the field, along with almost all professions....wouldn't you think TEACHERS would understand the necessity?!?!? {{{{hugs]]}} Sorry you're having to deal with this. Keep us posted. Donna
