Guest guest
Hi, -- Nicolas is going to one of the new shorter sessions -- July 31 to Aug. 5. I was hoping he'd be with your kids this year, but for him the shorter session is best. We're going to Lake Tahoe for a mini-vacation, to a Hyatt that has programs for our 3-year old daughter. Maybe we'll get to have a dinner or two alone! Hurray for Camp Krem... Carole Scherbert wrote: >We got our acceptance letter for camp this year today. The kids are >going July 11 - 22. Guest guest
Hi , We just received ours too and Brook is going to camp on June 27th, session 2. I don't know if the Regional Center will have any funds to pay for it this year though. Do you have IHSS for any of your kids? We just started getting it last year for Brook. I read something today about our new gov taking it away from disabled individuals under 18 unless they are low income. Marisa
Guest guest
No, we do not get IHSS but I have many friends with many kids who do get it as their total income. It is very scarey for them. I am looking at having to pay almost $6.5K in camp fees if RC does not pick it up. But it is worth it for 12 days off. Guest guest
Marisa and -- I'm hoping and praying the regional center picks up this expense. My husband and I decided last year though that even if they don't we'll pay for camp because it's such a good experience for Nicolas. We just won't take a vacation then, the camp will get our vacation money. I must say I was a bit shocked when I heard that our new governor is planning to take away funds for disabled individuals. I say I'm shocked because considering who he's married to I figured our services would be safe. I've heard two different stories, one that we'll be asked to make a copay for services and one that only low income people will be eligible and everyone else will be on a waiting list. I wouldn't mind a copay, but to lose services altogether would be devastating. What worries me is not only my personal situation, but looking at the big picture--very scary. If middle income parents are asked to pay for services and they can't do so, not only will the kids lose services, but the companies providing the services, such as Camp Krem, may not be able to stay afloat. I'm holding my breath... Carole Scherbert wrote: >No, we do not get IHSS but I have many friends with many kids who do >get it as their total income. It is very scarey for them.
