Guest guest
Welcome Ann- I see you have already had some replies. I wanted to add a website so you can look up some of the drugs, if you want to. The drug site is: Drugs.com I looked up Haldol at the Drugs.com site and will include the link. Hopefully it works. Please be very careful using Haldol. There can be irreversible effects from Haldol. This is the site/link: http://www.drugs.com/pdr/haldol.html All the best, much strength, and huge hugs- Sandie Des Moines, IA dad, Merle, passed from LBD 9-20-02, age 65 mum, Jo (MIL, New Zealand) passed from LBD 4-29-07, age 78 -- " stonehuntr " wrote: Thank you for your prompt reply. We have been to Semmes-Murphey (Dr. Head) in already - that is where the dementia was diagnosed. We had a return visit scheduled, but canceled it when my MIL was so very weak - did not, at that time, think there was any reason to put her through the ride and strenuous wheelchair-car transfers involved plus the problem of eating a meal out. At that time, we did not know about LBD. We will call tomorrow and set up another appointment, though it will probably be weeks before we can get her in. Will try to get the MD to change from Haldol to, perhaps, Seroquel. She is taking Celexa and Aricept now as well as Namenda. Dr. Head added the Namenda but did not change the Haldol; I remember I asked about it because I had heard from one of Mother's sitters, a nurse, about the " Haldol Stoop " that she had seen in nursing home work, and I had noticed my MIL was not standing as straight as she had back in the winter. I will post here how things go with Dr. Head. Thanks so much! Ann Thank you so much for the welcome and all the great links. I am still perusing these as I have time. We made some progress yesterday toward getting the house ready for my MIL to come home, but still have a LONG way to go. She had her first (of two) cataract surgery yesterday and at today's checkup was seeing 20/25 in the surgery eye. At least something will be working when all this is over. We are in northwest Tennessee (2 hours west of Nashville and 2.5 hours northeast of Memphis; 1 hour from ). I would be interested in any doctors at this end of the state (or anywhere bordering: western KY (we are 1.5 hours south of Paducah), southeastern MO or eastern AR) who understand LBD and how to diagnose and treat it. Thank you for all the support and the opportunity to " vent " which is so necessary for any caregivers. Ann ------------------------------------ Welcome to LBDcaregivers.
