Guest guest
Helen: I think some advocates that moved mountains back in the old days had kids that aged out of the system and they got tired of banging their head into a wall and a broken system we did not cause and could not fix. Many groups are now silent like you have articulated. ASPIRES hopefully will continue to live on and ask the hard questions. We are still breathing because of membership that still has questions the professionals cannot answer. ASPIRES continues to live on. I received a heart breaking email from an Uncle who was trying to save his young 22 yr old AS niece that I ff to Meyer who was once a very active member on ASPIRES and remains a good friend and valuable resource who has AS. The uncle was looking for resources in his area and we provided it. She is totally out of control and has been for years. She is headed for jail time when the family quits bailing her out because of love. She does not get it and she is smart enough to know her family will help prevent this even though they continue to throw her out of their home because of her lies and deceit. Our work is never done which is WHY ASPIRES continues to live on. AS comes in all shapes and sizes. Many figure it out and adjust and some don’t seem to get it even when hit over the head with a 2 X 4. {wink} It has been families and those “with” AS like you that has driven support/awareness and research. To ASPIRES which is all of YOU, you keep on giving and sharing your lives and thoughts which like pebbles on a stream reach out to countless others. We all thank you! We each have our own way of living in the world, together we are like a symphony. Some are the melody, some are the rhythm, some are the harmony It all blends together, we are like a symphony, and each part is crucial. We all contribute to the song of life."...Sondra We might not always agree; but TOGETHER we will make a difference.
