Sandy,

Thanks for the advice. Due to stomach problems I cannot eat or drink anything spicy. Also, anything with a strong scent will make my nose swell badly. My husband just used some Listerine mouth wash, and I smell affects my nose. Any scent bothers my nose. It is called vasomotor rhinitis. Vaso means vessel (blood vessels in the nose) and motor means nerves. According to my allergist and the information I have obtained over the Internet, with this condition there is an imbalance of the nerves in the nose. There is no cure but avoidance of triggers like rainy days, dry air, any aerosol products, spicy foods, change in weather and other triggers. I just started noticing this problem about the last six months. It usually causes a runny nose (rhinitis), but due to the dry air, the mucus is thick now. I irrigate my sinuses twice daily as recommended by my ear, nose and throat surgeon and allergist. I have tried Mucinex, a mucus thinner taken orally, but it does not help. Tonight I am going to throw a clean wet towel over the shower rod to see if that helps. All of my doctors are hesitant about my using a vaporizer or humidifier due to the possibly of causing bacteria to grow. I keep large pans of water on the stove during the day, but we have a large house so it does not help much in the bedroom.

Norma try straining the spud water, and have you tried the chillie water to

permiate through your home or kitchen etc, really does help when you cannot

breathe through nose.

Even steaming up the bathroom is better than nothing.

I really feel sure the crushed chillies in a pot of water left to boil ,

will help but being sure not to let boil dry or that will almost kill you,

it is great for sinus, and stuffed eustation tubes etc, just must watch the

water level. keep boiling , or at the boil for 20 mins then , you should

notice great difference.

Only need 2 or 3 chillies.

I have never tried with the packet( dry stuff) but it probably would work

same.

Norma, I realise all you say and your allergy etc to smells of all sorts,

but the smell of chillies is different, its what breaks the muccous up, and

I,m pretty sure it won,t make the nostrils swell, my dayghter ) oldest ) has

sever rhinitis and her nasal passages swell too, and every thing triggers,

sometimes both nostrls bad, but she grows chillies specifically to put in

pots of boiling water to permiate rooms.

Only need to be in same room or others not far awy to get wonderful benefit,

don,t drink it at all.

Bye for now.
