gkluck mentioned her MIL's scribbles. I'm very interested in this kind of

communication attempt and would like to know what others are doing.

My dad went through an intense scribble period after his stroke. One time he

wrote STOP and gave it to my mother. She asked who should stop. He said

everyone. My mother was a bit edgy at the time and took it to mean he wanted to

kill her. I think he just wanted her to stop asking so many questions and

making such a commotion. She's the type that constantly wants everyone to do

something other than what they're doing even though they're doing something she

just asked them to do.

Another time he wrote a note about a plumber for her. He scribbled the guys

name and said something like 'only use so & so - he is an honest plumber with a

fair price' That was the highest compliment he could pay someone because he

took care of everything around the house and NEVER let anyone touch his handy

work.

He used to sketch depictions of child hood memories and write the names of the

people on the sketch. After one of his hospitalizations for medication

adjustment he was unable to write for a long time but over the past few weeks

he's been writing the first letter of his name followed by lewy language marks.

He also uses his finger to make letters and shapes on the bed or his body. He

looks at us for a response and gets exasperated that we don't have a clue.
