Guest guest
On another one of my groups, someone mentioned that Dr Sears had stated that if you have a boy with autism, then you have a 7% chance of having another child on the spectrum. If you have a girl with ASD, then your risk of having another child on the spectrum is 4%. (Although I do think these percentages are really low.) Anyway, given that MDS/DS is on the neurological spectrum, it makes me wonder if the 1% is a tad low for recurrence risk and if there is any info (although I doubt it, but I wanted to ask) regarding the percentages for risks being different if your current child with MDS/DS is a boy or a girl? Also, (just thinking outloud here) wouldn't the percentages for recurrence risk depend largely on the reason for the MDS/DS to begin with? (For example, if age did or did not play a factor, or if parent had an undiagnosed percentage, combination of parental traits likely to cause, etc...) Just curious.8)
