Guest guest
I have found in the past two years since I found out I am type two diabetic, that following the white diet is good for controlling your blood sugar. the white diet is simple, don't eat any thing white. example, flour, corn meal, bread, potatoes, rice, sugar, etc. this is why I find the Atkins diet is very helpful. I also like fresh fruit and I realize that a lot of fruit I shouldn't eat because of the sugar. it is hard to stay away from the white stuff, but I have learned that I feel much better if I do so. I use to be able to eat one dozen doughnuts at one time, but now I haven't had a doughnut in over six months. not that I don't want one, I know how it is going to make me feel and I can live with out that feeling. if you don't change your way of eating, you will only make your life harder and your diabetes will only get worse. I figure I am probably type two diabetic, because of the wrong way I was eating all these years and not exercising like the doctor was trying to tell me. diabetes doesn't run in my family, but I figure it is mostly my own fault for not trying to eat right and sitting around on my fat butt, when I could have been doing some kind of exercise. now that I do exercise for at least thirty minutes a day, I do feel so much better. when my sugar is up, I can jump on my stationary bike and ride it for at least twenty minutes, and I feel so much better. I have found that now that I am diabetic, I have to be strong and say no to foods I know I shouldn't eat. most people around you really don't care if you eat some thing you aren't suppose to. it doesn't raise there blood sugar if you eat it, so this is why they will always say, come on, just one won't hurt you. you have got to be in control of you and smart decisions. this diabetes can be a killer if you let it control you. but if you control it, you can live a normal life and feel good. there are just stuff we use to eat, that now we can't any more. I have learned in the past two years, it not only is a life style change, but it is the best way to eat and control your weight. at first when I found out I was type two diabetic, I ask why me, it isn't fare. but after a while, I realized that only I could change my life style and no one could do it for me. I am all ready blind and don't need any other handicap in my life. so I am going to control this diabetes my self. it isn't going to take me down and control my life. I am bigger then it is. plus now, I have this list to help me out when I feel weak and feel like giving in to some thing I know isn't good for me to eat. I have only been on this list for a few days, and you all have all ready helped me in more ways then one. God bless each and every one of you

Guest guest
holy moly Mark you are awesome! what a great attitude towards your diabetes and man... you are such an encouragement to us on list. We on list often wonder why diabetics don't care about their lives/bodies and just eat what they want and die. That has been a question we have touched on many times on list. To see someone join with such a fresh outlook on life and their diabetes is just so refreshing and brings encouragement to us who are trying to beat this darn disease. Thanks for the post Mark... wow! I like it! Hey folks, we got another here... a great encourager and motivator... keep them posts coming Mark!
