smearing test strips

Hi All,

Can anyone give me an idea as how not to smear the test strips when

checking my levels. Sometimes I get the word control next to my results

and Tim looked it up in the book and it said " smeared " . I'm using my

finger as a guide to find the whole and then laying the finger poked on top

of it.

Oh and I had a 4 hour after meal check of 92 and a premeal check of

91.

*big smile* Lynda is regulated folks in only 2 days! 8 units of lantus at 8 PM

and 2 units of H per 15 grams at any meal. Her sugars now run 80 to 120 all the

time *big smile*. And her docs said she would be a brittle diabetic her whole

life!

I am not familiar with the basic meter that you have from life scan but if any

others are / use a basic from life scan maybe you can give her some tips. One

thing you might need to do is get a drop of blood on it rather than a

smudge/smear of it. I.E put a nice drop of blood on it. Life scan has new strips

out for the basic and profile meters that require half the blood of the original

strips so if you have the new kind of strips for it, it should require much less

blood. If you do not, call life scan at their 800 number and ask them about the

new strips that require less blood.

Keep on keeping on Lynda! Your finally regulated!
