Guest guest
In a message dated 4/24/2005 12:21:07 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, Kirsten writes: The doctor spent over TWO HOURS talking to me and examining my feet and hands. Two hours. Kirsten, I offer you and the others the following story from Dr. Naomi Remen, who is an amazing woman and who writes and speaks the most eloquent and beautiful healing stories. I booked her to be the speaker for our next ICF conference so I will be seeing her in November. The single best book I have ever read on healing (and trust me, I have a very extensive library) is her book called Kitchen Table Wisdom. She has amazing stories to tell and her own is quite amazing. You can see her at www.rachelremen.com. Here is an excerpt from the book about meeting she had with a doctor who listened to her story, but also from a friend who listened even deeper. Dr. Remem writes: Then, unexpectedly, Dr. Z asked me a truly wonderful question. " Tell me the story of your illness from the beginning, " he said. In all these years, no one had ever asked me this question before. " It's very long, " I told him. " Fine, " he replied. It took about 45 minutes to tell everything and he listened attentively without interrupting. When I finished he leaned forward and in a kind voice asked me if I was still able to practice medicine a little. Shocked, I reminded him that I was as busy a doctor as he was. He seemed acutely embarrassed then and changed the subject. In the weeks that followed the visit with Dr. Z, I began to worry over many of the physical problems I had lived with comfortably for years. I even canceled some talks I had scheduled on the East Coast because I did not feel secure about being a thousand miles away from my doctors who knew my case. Finally, one of my friends asked my why I seemed to be having such a hard time. Almost in tears, I told him what had happened. " May I hear your story too? " he asked, and so I told it again. Like Dr. Z, my friend listened thoughtfully, without interrupting, but he heard something very different. When I finished he looked at me for a long time. " God, , I had no idea. You ARE a warrior! " he said ... and healed me. Love and Prayers, Beth ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* RA, or any other health challenge, is NOT a show-stopper!!! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
