Guest guest
OBVIOUSLY I am not a doctor and don’t pretend to know anything at all… Just a few thoughts. First, get your butt to the doctor – it could be a potentially nasty course you’re on with a med (like the Valproic Acid). Look all of your meds up online and talk to a doctor until you have put together a little summary on what each one is prescribed for. Were they all prescribed by the same doc or several? That can be trouble. Perhaps you could have one doctor re-evaluate all of your meds and dosages and maybe wean you off of certain things. Risperdal is an antipsychotic, so unless you’re bipolar or something else similar, I am not sure that’s a good medication to be on. (My son’s on it, so I know all about it). It can cause obesity and diabetes among lots of other side effects. If you really need it, it’s completely understandable! I just worry you’re overmedicated. Effexor is for major depressive disorders. Trazadone is an antidepressant and often used with pain syndromes. Lamotrigine is Lamictal, a mood stabilizer and anticonvulsant (my son also takes this) and can make you very sleepy. Valproic Acid is for seizures too – or are they using it also as a mood stabilizer. So if you’re only looking for the antidepressant, Wellbutrin is so mild and low on side effects compared to others, perhaps that might be better? Trazadone may be an overkill and prescribed just because the book says it’s used with pain syndromes, etc.. Essentially you are on FOUR DRUGS doing the SAME THING. Naproxen (is that for headaches? Pain??) can cause a lithium toxicity – MAJOR problem. Have you had blood work done recently to test your drug levels? Flexeril looks like it’s a muscle relaxer and to be used short term in conjunction with physical therapy. Is that true even in fibro patients? I don’t want to sound brash – I am trying to be supportive. A trip to the doc is in order to see if you can get rid of some of this! I do not yet have to take many meds, so if I am way off, let me know…

I use Effexor for the antidepressant, Risperdal for phycosis, Valproic Acid ( which I'm slowly going off right now) mood stabilizer, Lamotrigine for mood stabilizer to enhance the Valproic Acid, Trazodone for sleep, Naproxen for pain and Flexeril for Fibromyalgia. My doctor knows I'm on all of these drugs and we are gradually decreasing or illiminating most of them. I tend to become unstable quickly so it has to be done slowly. I was not responding to the medications in the beginning thus the enhancements. Thankyou for the concern. Norma
Guest guest
Norma, My gosh you have got it rough. My 9 year old son is on Risperdal and Lamictal (no official dx of course!) for bipolar disorder. I completely understand. I still think if you can’t open your eyes, call the doc. Good luck!!!!! R.
