Guest guest
Hi , I'm one who has gotten 'cured'. YIPPEE! I've been absolutely pain free for the past 5-6 months. I tried everything imaginable over a 10 year course. You name it, I've done it. what worked for me finally was using the Estrace (Estradiol) and not the Premarin,(CCE) tho I hear some of the gals say it helps. (both are considered Estrogens, tho made up of different 'types' of estrogen. I definitely prefer the Estrace, but that's me... haha.. I also added a Testosterone cream This took a total time frame of about 6 months, but WORKED for me and that (T) with the Estrace, totally rebuilt the tissue. sorry gals, but I feel like I'm repeating myself so often, but I guess we always have 'newbies' who aren't aware. Hope this helps. I probably went thru about 8-10 doctors, and I basically ended up telling my gyne.doctor what " I " wanted to try and he went along with it, the dermatologist just kept saying yeast, but I honestly feel that was secondary and the treatments for yeast just aggravated the initial condition. One of those things where the cure is worse than the disease. ha ha.. Personally I'm scared to death of Steroids, that's what really did me in, but it was definitely a case of overuse for me. Tho there is definitely a place for them for short term. I've never heard of Betameth??? and from what I've heard via the list is that the Crisco is great for pain relief, tho I've never tried it. I have used the s baby diaper rash cream though and it did give some good relief for a flare up, it does have zinc in it which is good for skin healing. anyway, my .02 cents worth. Warmest, Dee~
Guest guest
Hi , I'm using Temovate and Premarin in the morning, and at night I use the Temovate and a compounded 2% Testosterone cream. Tomorrow I will be replacing the Premarin with the compounded .01% Estradiol beta 17 cream. I've used the Temovate for only two days now, and it's not causing the severe burning that the steroid cream Psorcon caused me. I will be using the Temovate for five more days, for a total of two weeks on steroid cream. Eventually, I will be on a maintenance dosage of Estradiol and Testosterone. I've only just started these creams, so I don't know yet how they will work for me. I'm the one who was diagnosed by a dermatologist after my OBGYN, nurse practitioner, and urologist all said in error that I didn't have LS because it wasn't white. My dermatologist said it looks like a classic case, but I have not had a biopsy to confirm this. Guest guest
Hi , I would like to tell you a little true story. Several years ago a light aircraft ditched in the Irish sea, a wild sea at the best of times. Of course a Mayday was sent and one of the passengers crawled out onto a wing tip. This type of aircraft would normally sink within ten minutes at the most but it was two hours before a search aircraft arrived and winched the surviving passenger to safety. The plane sank a minute later. I see two things in this account. First, never give up and second you aint going nowhere till your time is up. Enjoy the rest of your life. Guest guest
I need some info on my dad. He has been going for test and we just found out on friday he has prostate cancer. He is in stage 4, 70 years old. He has been losing alot of weight. The cancer has spread through his entire bones includin skull, back, pelvic, head, shoulders and basically all over. He had 14 biopsies done and 3 came back cancerous. His psa count is 450. So the doctor told him the only options he has is the hormone shot and pill everyday. Which is a 50/50 chance and if that does not work then it will have to be chemo which will destroy his body. The dr said if he opted for no treatment he has about 6 months. The doctor said he has widespread skeletal metastases all due from prostate. The question we have now is will this hormone procedure work or not. What do you think his overall chances are if any. I see him in so much pain and alls he wants to do is sleep. Please help me with any info anyone can supply. Thank you very much. Also I would like to add about 2 years ago he had a heart attack and a stenth put in. He has been fine up until this prostate thing. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
So sorry to hear about your father. I am not in any position to give you any advice on how best to proceed, and there are very few men with advanced prostate cancer who post on this List, although Donna Pogliano posted a very good piece of advice to a member battling advanced disease yesterday – have a look at her message ( go to message 9184 at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ProstateCancerSupport/messages) There are also Mailing Lists where the focus is on advanced prostate cancer and hormone therapies and I know that the men on those sites will help you all they can. You might join http://www.prostatepointers.org/mailman/listinfo/chb a List where men discuss hormone blockade options and http://www.groups.prostate-help.org/grsubsc.htm where you will see that there is a specific List for men with Advanced Disease. Below are some links for men with advanced disease you might find helpful http://prostate-cancer.org/resource/advancedprostatecancerhandbook.html This is an excellent handbook that you can order free of charge entitled Living with Advanced Prostate Cancer When PSA Rises During Hormone Therapy http://www.ustoo.com/Experienced_Relapse.asp One of the US-TOO sites which also has excellent advice on pain management http://patient.cancerconsultants.com/prostate_cancer_news.aspx?id=32365 Details of a chemotherapy treatment with Taxotere that has proved a useful management tool I hope this helps some. Please don’t think that all is lost. There is a wonderful man by the name of Ric Masten who is in his eight year of treatment following a very bad diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer. His battle is graphically described in his website at http://www.ric-masten.net/Prostate.Series.html All the best, Terry Herbert in Melbourne, Australia Diagnosed ‘96: Age 54: Stage T2b: PSA 7.2: Gleason 3+3=6: No treatment.
