I went to a pain doc after a quack-O-practor screwed up my neck. Waiting

time to get an appointment was over a month away, but I managed to sneak in

early. Lots of good it did. Patients were being booked to as many as 8 per

hour and the doc was always 1-2 hours late, then didn't see half the

patients. It was disgusting.

He gave me 8 injections, with the same syringe, about 1/2 " apart in the left

side of my neck, and then charged me $65 for each shot, and $58 for the

cortisone in the syringe! All this was in the space of 3 minutes. The only

thing he did for me was to prescribe the right pain meds, but he tried to

get all my income without doing that much work. From now on, I'll just work

with my regular doc since I know what pills I might need.

I would stay away from the oxycontin if at all possible, it is highly highly

addictive...

The news media wants you to be afraid to take oxycontin because they say it's

very addictive. Typically people with pain do not become addicted to pain meds

taken as prescribed. This is a flat out lie that is limiting the care of pain

patients all across the country. Cary

Actually, where oxycontin is concerned I think there is cause for alarm. My

sister was put on it after spinal fusion surgery and coming off of it was

absolutely horrible. The withdrawals were out of this world and ended up

slowing her recovery. My dad's best friend is on it and his doctor told him he

will have to take it for the rest of his life because his body simply can not

take the withdrawals. Sometimes he gets a bad batch and it doesn't last as long

as it is supposed to, and he goes into withdrawals anyway and has to take extra.

Bad bad stuff. Take it as a LAST resort..
