Guest guest
Debbie, I'm still taking Bextra, which is in the same category that Celebrex is. I'm also on Enbrel. I see my rheumy in a couple of weeks, and I'm going to bring the subject up again. I think I'm going to try something else besides the Bextra and see if it will be effective. I have had a bleeding ulcer in the past. NSAIDs don't stop the progression of RA, though, so I think it's good that you've started on methotrexate. It takes a while to notice the effects, though. Sometimes prednisone is given along with mtx until the mtx takes effect, but it also has its side effects. I hope you soon get some relief. Guest guest
Welcome Debbie, I am sorry about your pain, and how you have been going through such a terrible time. I think being on Celebrex is bad, after all the talk about it. What type of arthritis do you have? Are you going to a rheumatologist? It's very important to go to one, because they know how to treat you, and understand your pain. I will say sometimes people can get a bad one. My 2 cents:You should be off that med, put on something else. With some pain meds. The methotrexate takes a little while to work. or a,(moderators) will be great giving information on the celebrex. Being on it 6 years is a very long time. I can relate to how you feel. When your in pain, we can only do what we can, so don't worry about writing about yourself. I'm just glad your here, and reached out to this group. This is an amazing group to help you through anything, so please stay, let us all help you. There is great info, and wonderful people. So, just hang in here, Tawny > > Hi all, > I am new to this list--- I'm 50 years old. > I will introduce myself at another time if it is OK with you, as I am in the midst of another BAD and terribly frustrating flare-up. I understand from my own research that the study was based on 800 to 1200 mgs daily. I have so very many strikes against my health already that I decided to attempt to wean myself slowly from Celebrex. I attempted to take 2 (200 mgs) one day and 1 the next for 2 weeks-- then 1 200 mgs a day for 2 weeks then off completely. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I too was taking 400mg of Celebrex per day and when the health concerns came out I also discussed it with my doctor and he took me down to 200mg per day. Well I suppose all of a sudden my body is reacting to only getting the 200mg per day, and I have been experiencing an extreme more amount of pain. Yesterday for the first time in about 2 months I took both my dosages of Celebrex. Hopefully in a week or two I'll be able to tell the difference. I didn't contact my doctor about it because I know how much pain I'm in, and for the first time I really see that the Celebrex does work. I just think we have to pray that nothing comes of it because we really do need it. I take Celebrex, Methotrexate, Plaquniel (sp), a Folic Acid and Humira. I really do need all of those to feel better. I believe it took the Methtrexate took about 2 to 3 weeks to work. I hope you feel better. I think also with taking Celebrex we just really have to pay closer attention to our bodies and any little pains that we should not be having. Unfortuantely there are risk with all of the medicine we are taking, and like I said, we just have to pray nothing bad comes of it. Have A Joyful Day, Kelli > > > > Hi all, > > I am new to this list--- I'm 50 years old. > > I will introduce myself at another time if it is OK with you, as I > am in the midst of another BAD and terribly frustrating flare-up.
