Guest guest
Good to see you back Norah. I'm glad the salivary infection is clearing up. I had a coworker at one time thought she had an ear infection. She made an appointment and went down one floor to the ENT's office. He knew exactly what it was a removed the stone immediately. She came back and showed it to us. Amazing, she went in for one thing and it was another. You are absolutely correct...water is the key to all. Our bodies are made up of mostly water and without it we dehydrate. No other fluid can wash out toxins. After a massage or body wrap it is essential that you drink lots and lots of water. You don't want those toxins running around loose in your bloodstream and water is the only thing that will get them out. You'll feel 100% better afterward. If not, you will feel ache like you would not possibly believe. hugs, Sundra Hi Everyone,First I want to say that I've missed everyone here so very very much. I'm happy to report my very painful "saliva gland infection" is healing nicely and I'm almost finished with the antibiotics. What a horror that was. Who would have thought that Amitriptyline aka Elavil could cause a stone to form in the saliva gland which can in turn become plugged and infected. Had it not cleared up I would have had to see an "Ear, Nose & Throat" specialist to have surgery which could have left parts of my tongue and mouth paralyzed forever. Whew!!! What a relief that this surgery has been averted.WARNING to anyone taking Elavil/Amitriptyline... MAKE SURE YOU DRINK LOTS OF WATER. Elavil causes dehydration and if you find yourself thirsty all the time... make sure you drink. Dehydration is the cause of saliva gland problems. I did a lot of research on this and I couldn't find much more than the comment that: "certain anti-depressants can cause saliva gland stones and infection", and: "dehydration is one of the leading causes of saliva gland stones and infection". I don't want any of you here to end up having to battle yet another medical problem caused by the drugs we take to fight Fibro.Drinking lots of water is good for you anyway and if it can avert this problem... great!!! What a simple and inexpensive way to get healthier. Not to mention how much drinking lots of water will do for our muscles, especially after having massage therapy. Seeing as the massage loosens all the toxins that are stored in the muscles... these need to be flushed out of our bloodstreams. If they aren't... other health problems and illness can occur. Seems to matter which way I turn, I'm finding out the mild exercise, drinking lots of water, staying as mobile as possible, and taking magnesium with malic acid are a blessing for Fibromites.I'm actually starting to notice some major improvements with my Fibro pain since I've started all these exercise, massage, and chiro sessions. And for me... this is a big one. I have always been one that absolutely hates to drink water and exercise was not even mentioned on my list of things I do or ever want to do. I have been so anti exercise and a non-water drinker, that I'm pretty sure has been one of the contributors to my Fibro pain. My muscles were so dehydrated, the professionals were afraid that so much water had been robbed of my body just to keep my heart and other vital organs operating, that it would just be a matter of time before my body would just stop working from lack of water. My last measurements for hydration showed that I was at the extreme danger level of dehydration. I guess 2 cups of coffee per day as my total fluid intake had finally caught up with me in a very bad way.I have found a few very interesting articles that I want to forward to the group relating to Fibro and other health concerns that I will forward right after I finish this e-mail. I hope everyone has been feeling as well as can be and know that I think of everyone here every day. Seems I have over 800 e-mail to catch up with but to be realistic I know that no matter how much I want to read each and every one of them... I know that that just won't happen. :-(I also hope that everyone is informed and up to date about the VIOXX news and those still taking it, should see their doctor immediately to have their meds refunded and changed. I 'm sure this is all old news by now and has been covered by every one else here. But I thought I'd mention it just in case. I've been really busy doing work on all the computers here this past week and couldn't get my e-mail opened. I had run out of disk space... sheesh.. you'd think 300 gig could never get used up... but noooooo... not when Norah's around.. lol. Anyway... I spent the last week trying to cleanup the computers and servers, doing backups, burning stuff on to DVD so that I could delete and make more space. I think I'm pretty much at a safe spot right now, but it looks like I'll be spending the weekend still cleaning, burning and deleting. Not to mention putting one of the servers back together (FINALLY) that holds all my web pages and the Fibromites Fighting Weight web pages. Hopefully I'll have this up and running by Monday.Sorry for the long winded post... I guess I have just too much to say.. hehehehe.loving and gentle hugs to everyone,Norah ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
Guest guest
Hi Sundra, May I add something? Our body also need high level of Glutathione. Almost every health problem can be linked to low Glutathione level in our body. Our body needs to manufacture and product Glutathione to provide A.I.D. = Antioxidant, Immune System Booster, and Detoxifier. In fact, our liver has the highest concentration of Glutathione level, and the function of the liver is to detox our body. It makes sense right? Many clinical studies have proven that as well, including mercury detox, Tylenol overdose, etc. Regards, Sundra Lizana wrote: Amazing, she went in for one thing and it was another. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better.Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
Norah, I'm glad you are back sweetie! Everyone has missed you something terrible! It's great to hear that your infection is clearing up well. I'm sure that wasn't pleasant at all. My ear/sinus/respiratory infection is finally gone too, but took 2 rounds of antibiotics to get rid of, which didn't make me happy at all. You know how I feel about taking antibiotics. Luckily though, there were a couple of them in the " safe " category that I was able to take...a course of Zithromax didn't do it, so the doc gave me 7 days of Biaxin, and that knocked it right out of me. Macrolides seem to be the only class of antibiotics I can take safely! You are right that drinking plenty of water is very important. Not just for people taking Elavil, or with Fibro, but for EVERYONE. At my Fibro Support Group meeting on Monday, one of the local chiropractors came in and gave a talk, and one of the things he couldn't talk enough about was drinking plenty of water. He said that bottled water with minerals added was the best kind to drink, and distilled water was the worst, followed by tap water. Keeping hydrated is one of the kindest things you can do for your body. It's good for your complexion, kidneys, weight, and as you said, it keeps your muscles from dehydrating and keeps the toxins flushing from your body. I can't believe you were that dehydrated though. That's pretty scary...I hope you keep up on drinking the water. I try to drink about 60-80 oz. per day. I'm thrilled to hear that the magnesium/malic acid supplements work for you, and that the alternative practitioners help too. It sounds like you are doing so good Norah, and I'm just bursting at the seams with happiness for you. I hope your improvement continues, please keep us posted! I have to go pick up my daughter now, so I have to run. Glad to see you back! Much love, Jen
