Guest guest
When you walk through Antelope Canyon, it is simply extraordinary. I'll never forget driving up to a table at which four Navajo's sat, including a very old, very wise-eyed, woman, wrinkled, wrinkled , wrinkled and dark from the sun. She wore traditional dress including the tiered long skirt in the most extraordinary shade of deep peacock blue velvet, squash blossom necklace. One gets into an open jeep and is driven to the opening and left to explore. the red walls, the curves made from the power of the water on the earth. I don't remember any conversation regarding the place of the slot canyon in the Four Corners world view--just the awareness of the power of the waters when they pour down. They easily may come without warning if there has been rain further up the arroyo beyond sighe and hearing (distant thunder or clouds may warn of flash floods). At any rate--thank you Carol. Guest guest
I know there are Navajo stories associated with individual formations in the canyon. I was very drawn to the formation on the left side of my painting, which the unconscious presented in a spontaneous visualization as a pregnant woman. Some day I hope to go there and ask about the Navajo associations to that rock. Carol Re: Religion and Astrology When you walk through Antelope Canyon, it is simply extraordinary.
