In re: the wonderful topic of the reversing of the Tetragrammaton........

As I have written a whole book on Hagia Sophia, the Greek name for Holy Wisdom [shekinah, Chochmah), THE DOVE IN THE STONE: Finding the Sacred in the Commonplace

DOVE IN THE STONE

I get pretty excited n frustrated at not being to write prop bec of numb rt hand!

Wisdom in every culture is personified as feminine. A philo-sopher is a lover of wisdom. In the Old Testament, she is described as full of delight and wanting to be friendly and helpful to mankind. More importantly she is consider the co-creator of the world!

Matter=mater=Mother Nature, and what do mothers of all species do?

They give form to life!

Where would a masculine God be w/out the feminine for manifestation? Genesis begins w/the creation of the Sun and the Moon; Eve in Hebrew means Mother of all Living.........

The R.C. church made an unfortunate translation of Hagia Sophia into Spiritus Sanctus which takes a masc pronoun, thereby making the Trinity all masc, when the Holy Spirit [Ghost] was meant to be feminine! n has remained so in the Eastern Orthodox churches. Another name=the Paraclete, means Comforter. Jung has pointed out that her only feminine symbol in the RC church is the dove, a bird sacred to Astarte. The title of my bk comes fr a Hermetic Treatise, bec for the alchemists they risked their lives by maintaining that matter contained Spirit. Fox, a contemporary, now Episcopal priest, was excommunicated by the RC when he attempted to say the same thing. If u think ab it, all matter is made of energy or as the Jewish theoretical physicist, Bohm, poetically put it: All matter is frozen light! He was also a friend of the Hindu Krishnamurti.I had the pleasure of meeting him at a lecture and asking him if his Implicate/Explicate order was similar to Jung's theories and he said yes. He demonstrated this with a large round glass vessel filled with a white liquid into which he poured a thick blue one. When he rotated it in one direction, the blue appeared as separate globules of blue; when he reversed the direction, they all vanished!

So it is a great blessing to us at Jung-fire for the gift of your article on the reversal of the Hebrew Tetragrammaton yielding the feminine n the comments that have followed. We cannot thank u both enough!

I have pointed out in my bk that one cannot kill an archetype! So perhaps wh Sophia was banished fr the Trinity, she hid in fairy tales as the Fairy Godmother, a positive mediatrix between the visible/invisible world, always giving wise n practical advice to the perplexed young seekers. Why is she called god-mother? Aha! If u think of her function in the psyche, is she not the mother of the potential consciousness of Jung's Self, the Christ within, Divine Guest, atman?. In my diagram, the radius w/in the mandala of Jung's symbol for the psyche, joins the ego on the circumference to the centerpt of the Self. It is the "only Way", and symbolizes in-tuition. In Russia, her motto is Ego coniungo - I unite. { I find it neat that her color is turquoise or light blue, like the flag of the EU!]

So you can see that Feminine Wisdom helps us find the Sacred in the commonplace. As some of u know, in the last dream I had of Jung, he shouted at me: Consider the obviousI I did! I woke up sprised. Looked up 'obvious' in dict. Comes from ob via, lying on the road. And that's where the alchemists said the Philosopher's Stone lies 'and wagonwheels roll over it!' i.e. nothing is hidden, it is we who are blind!

So, with the magic key of delight, the trick is to think symbolically - sym-bolos, putting 2 n 2 together, or Jung's coincidentia oppositorum! The key for me is to see archetypes as processes [verbs] n play the game of looking at objects around and asking them 'What do u do?"For example:

What does a cup do? It contains -yang/yin?- yin=fem.

What 2 religs honor a cup once a week? Christianity/Judaism [pagan: cauldron]

What great West myth concerns a chalice? Holy Grail! - Prob: it's lost! What have lost? The feminine.

[The highest level = Mother Goddess]: What do all mothers do? They give form to life.

And that is what I learned from a cup!

Astrologically, cups are ruled by the Moon, ruler of Cancer. The sign of the Mother - breasts, stomach, womb, all vessels. Sun/Moon are the archetypal pair even in Genesis 1:14-16

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven

to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs,

and for seasons, and for days and years.

And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven

to give light upon the earth : and it was so.

And God made twogreat lights; the greater light to rule the day,

and the lesser light to rule the night.

So perhaps you can see what delight I have these days just looking at pencils, windows, coffee filters n on and on, asking them what they do, then connecting the archetypal process up symbolically to the highest abstraction. This is my way of reversing The Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus' As above, so below to As below, so above!

I hope to make this into another Credo but it is Jung-fire that inspired all this non-sense!
