EMG is a diagnostic test for your nerves and muscles involving small needles placed at various points to measure your nerve and muscle conduction. They usually do it if you are having numbness or pain that extends into your arms or legs. I am having another one done soon. I had one done a couple of years ago.

EMG has no correlation with or does not cause being overweight. You are usually given an EMG if you have spine problems.

Sounds like EMG is what they did to my arm when I was about 7 and it

set me up for a lifelong, horrible fear of needles. It was awful

I am getting better when it comes to needles, but not good enough!

I am very overweight right now and I know it's ben the fibro. Each

pregnancy I gained a lot during, then a lot after, but I always lost

it by the next pregnancy (except for a few pounds).

This last one I gained 80 pounds during, lost maybe half??? I was

still working and was an EMT, but never really recovered. When Jack

was one I quit my career to stay home and work here, and my butt is

as big as my chair now.

Inactivity from this left me with a weight gain, but then when the

fibro hit, I think I have packed on another 30 since May!!!

Would they use that same test for carpal tunnel?? My doctor offered it to me back in AK but we decided against it because we already knew the major cause of it.. I curl my hands while I sleep and of course on the computer a lot but its mainly curling my hands! Who would have thought!! LOL So I wear pertty braces on both hands that make me look like a geek.. :c)

Yes, they use that very same test to look for carpal tunnel.
