Erwin,

When I started taking Actigall my LFT's were as follows:

Alk. Phos. = 555, AST = 96, ALT = 119 and GGT = 1350.

About 1 month later they were as follows:

Alk. Phos. = 206, AST = 23, ALT = 26 and GGT = 266

WOW! I thought that was amazing. I had to stop Actigall after about 10

months because of severe nausea. Last LFT's after no Actigall for about 2

years were:

Alk. Phos. = 475, AST = 66, ALT = 52 and GGT = 904.

So apparently it helped but I can't stand the nausea.

Hope you have good numbers when you get your blood test! (I was on 900

mg./day)

Take Care,

Dianne A.

Erwin -

Not to rain on the Actigall parade, but don't be disappointed if your LFT

values don't improve. Mine have fluctuated all over the place, with only

my bilirubin counts usually in the normal range. The last time I had all

normal values I wasn't taking Actigall at all. All of the values skyrocket

during my cholangitis bouts.

I've been on actigall for nearly 18 months and my last values, which were

better than I've seen in a while were:

SGOT: 36 (normal)

SGPT: 47

Alk Phos: 312

GGT: 377

Bili: .9 (normal)

But during my infection 1 week prior:

SGOT: 99

SGPT: 154

Alk phos: 486

GGT: 883

Bil: 3.5

Russ,

Thanks for discussing your experience. I take it that you don't feel Actigall

has improved your other symptoms -- for example, itching? Also, I am too

lazy to search the website at the moment, so could you tell me about your

Actigall dosage? Thanks! Erwin

Dear H,

You had mentioned in an email a little while back that asacol has apparently

been working well for your UC (Crohn's?). Have the Mayo folks suggested that

asacol may help with your PSC? I ask because my new doctor is pushing me to

consider going on asacol for my UC, and I am somewhat hesitant in the absence

of such a connection between the two diseases. Also, I am right to infer that

your tests indicate improvement in the ducts since going on the higher dose

of Actigall?

Thanks! Erwin
