Guest guest Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Amen! My nada is on the warpath against " oppression " , meaning not getting her way instantly. After she spent a night in jail (the first time), she went on and on about how oppressive it was. You couldn't do what you wanted to do and you are constantly dominated by men (the deputies). She seemed very shocked by the whole experience- but not vulnerable in any way of course. She swears that all the inmates were misunderstood and oppressed by the police and that, like her, they were framed. I was confused at first, and then amused. I asked her what she expected jail to be like. She couldn't wrap her mind around not being able to do whatever she wanted. They were evil for limiting her freedom. Oppression...ha! Guest guest Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Adria, Wow, that is an interesting story about your mom being in jail and her perspective of it. It's like she had no concept of what punishment is? = break the law - go to prison = having your freedoms taken away. Thanks for sharing that as it gave me a new perspective on how they don't get action and consequences to the point of jail. Greg. Re: Re: The Ridiculous Things BP Parents Say Amen! Guest guest Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 I have 3 favorites from my nada here they are in no particular order… 1 " You kicked me to the curb! " 2 " This is my last letter! " (she wrote this maybe 250 times) 3 " I gave birth to you! " Well now I owe her my life! And when she gets really crazy she even tells her family she also gave birth to my children to! WOW How does this work? Surprisingly they still don't think she needs to be in an institute! LOL. These posts are great and they keep lifting my spirits thanks for starting this and thanks to all who have shared in this thread! Guest guest Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 LOL, that is funny and so is a's DH's comment about the punch! But I thought about this for a moment b/c it made me recall a message that my mom left on my voice mail. She said that the first radiation treatment in a town an hour and twenty minutes away, was cancelled b/c of equipment problems. And she used her famous line, " It broke (but also fill inthe blank, It was a success b/c) I was scheduled for an appointment. Then I thought, my God, this women thinks that she is that powerful that she can do that! I've had conversations with her in the past before n/c about how that is illogical. But I thought of me as a five year old listening to this over and over about the world and how powerful my mother was to break things without even being there. As an adult, I could laugh. As a child, I was amazed and scared out of my mind. Sometime what seems to be so benign is really malignant. a, thanks for starting this post. Greg. Guest guest Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 KW I have heard the cult one also in fact that is one of the MANY rumors going around my home town about me thanks to nada! Sometimes I want to say yes I am in a cult just to trip her trigger! Wouldn't that be funny! Guest guest Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 My nada always uses the Honor your mother to but another one is " I thought I raised you tuff! " I think we all can figure that on out! That is a big joke right there! Lizzy > > > > 1. " I deserve some respect, I'm your mother " > > 2. Guest guest Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Dear Greg, One of your posts on another thread reminded me of another nada-ism--one she used when trying to get me to correct the error of my ways. *An unexamined life is not worth living*. How rich! Guest guest Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Lizzy, Mine always said you could say a lot about her, but you had to admit she raised 'nice' children! But 'nice' in her vocabulary means 'obedient'. Sort of like 'obedient' to the poodle-owner means 'good dog'. ;o) Liz > > My nada always uses the Honor your mother to but another one is " I > thought I raised you tuff! Guest guest Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Oh! Lizzy, that reminds me of 2 more: " You think you're at the center of the universe! " --anytime I express a will or a need. and " That's not how I raised you! " --anytime I express an opinion. Duh! Can you raise your children to have a certain political outlook or to be as racist and homophobic as you? I didn't realize that was brainwashable. Trish > > > > > > 1. Guest guest Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Trish, I can understand that and I like your reply to that my reply is no reply but if I did reply I would use yours!!! For me and my nada she just sends stupid emails to me or dh non of which have ever been responded to in over 4 years so I am not sure why she feels compelled to write and " tell me what she wasnt going to tell me " . I am not sure what she even thinks changed like for example I never have done any thing differently or given her any signals to even imply that I care so why are you telling me? Like, I wasn't going to tell you but if you don't blabla than I am taking you to court for blabla or I wasn't going to tell you because I didn't think you would care any ways but I almost died this weekend. Just really really stupid things. Some times she sits on info to try and make me look bad like when grandnada had cancer she didn't tell me until months after it was all over so then when I found out I looked really bad and uncaring. I did call grandnada (despite the fact I had been n/c for 4 years with her also) and I gave her my sympathies this was over the summer. The conversation went horribly and I decided that even if she dies I won't let my self lose too much sleep over it. I probably won't even go to the funeral because she was so cruel to me over and over these last years I can't do that to myself. I am sick of the whole foo. I am sick of it all I want them to go away. To be honest I hate any line that spews out of her mouth but I have to laugh sometimes it pulls me through! Love Lizzy > > > > > > > > > > > > 1.
