Memory problems, I don't know if I have pressure in my spine.but I sure relate

to memory problems!

My kids started calling it " Percocet head " . I only recently learned that loss of

memory, or the tendency to have problems utilizing words is part of Fybro and

CFS. I honestly couldn't figure out why I seemed to be losing my ability to

function. It is especially difficult since I love the use of words in my

creative life. I am an author, a person who uses creativity as an outlet of the

deepest parts of myself.

My kids suffer more for it as well. My daughter gets so frustrated when she

tells me something and I forget. Parts of her life seem unimportant because I

forget that she has shared them with me. I've recetnly decided I need to start

writing every request of my kids, every date, and even with that information

slips away , never to be seen or heard from again unless I have a fleeting

moment of sanity or , worse yet, I find out I have once again let someone down.

The most scary part of this has been my ability to work. I love working, but the

bottom line is that no-one wants an employee who can't remember how to do things

that they've told her over and over to do. Between the pain of trying to sit in

an office for eight hours, and feeling diminished because I can't remember the

detailed information for my job, I've never felt so foolish and beaten in all of

my life. I was so excited about being able to go back to work after being out

for five years. I started in May, and already I'm being let go because I've

missed too much work.

Memory, or lack thereof, is painful. I think you're right that knowing its a

problem kind of makes it worse. At least if we have Alzheimers or something like

that the person often has no idea that their slipping away.

We, on the other hand, feel every centimeter of movement toward the vast cavern

of secrets held by our own minds and bodies. Know that your not alone, and even

if that doesn't help, maybe we can breathe a bit easier knowing that all of our

collective thoughts and information may be keeping our minds fresh and more able

to exercise our intellects!
