Guest guest
Hi everyone. This is from NY (not to be confused with the other newbie named who is the nurse!) I am the one that is suffering with workman's comp issue of chronic elbow pain due to epidonlitis (both inside & outside aka medial & lateral epicondolitis on the right side which had surgery and now the left side is acting up). I know there are more crucical and painful things that people are suffering with, but this has really gotten to me and I am not sure what to do next. And after reading this, please dont think I am totally stupid...I just dont know what do anymore. Let me give you a little history and I apologize in advance if it is confusing and long...it is confusing to me and I am living this horror story!!! Diagnosed 5/98, did numerous cortisone inj's, pt, nsaids, ametritaline..then did 1st surgery with Dr A 1/02 for the right epicondolitis and for right rotator cuff repair/injury. Went thru pt again (dont think it was worth while cause I had 2 areas affected and was hard to really work on repairing one while the other was painful : (. He tells me at that time he wonders if I have rsd, but never pursues the idea. I had no idea of the impact of those letters back then and I guess I just let it go over my head. I still didnot get any relief so Dr A sends me to Dr B (who is supposed to be the brainchild of all ortho surgeons and supposed to be able to fix me). Had 2nd surgery for epicondolits 6/05; went thru pt again, inj's, ultrasound therapy and still not fixed. He (DR says I also give up and go to the pain clinic and see Dr C. Make the appt with Dr C, who tells me straight out he doesnt believe in pain meds and thinks I would benefit from having an implanted nerve stimulator to take care of the pain. BUT he doesnt place the one I need cause it has to go cervically (at the base of the neck) he only places the ones in the lower back for people suffering with back issues. So Dr C sends me to Dr D who also does the implanted stimulators. After calling Dr D's office to make the appt -- they tell me sorry, implanted stims dont work for your kind of problem, bye bye. I found a pain clinic doc locally (Dr E) who wont see me til I get a letter from workman's comp saying they would pay for the consulation. Ok, I call Dr B's secretary and tell her of my plight.. She says oh no, we dont have to write anything because workman's compl already authorized you to go go the pain clinc (yes the did but that was Dr C not this new Dr E). I thought of calling or going back to Dr A, but he is out of town til the middle of next month. My workman's compl lawyer is not reachable ( I asked to speak to him on several occaisions and get his paralegal who says I dont know and I will have to get back to you....that is why I asked to speak to him in the 1st place! and it takes her weeks to get back to me.) Again I apologize for the legnth, but is there anyone else out there who has any suggestions? I am so frustrated now and I feel like they dont know what to do with me, so if they ignore me I will go away. I wont go away...I have to stand up for me since no one else is, but I am not sure what I should do next. Thanks for your time and reading. Again many apologies for the legnth. Hope you are having a great day. in NY
