Guest guest Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 , I have been looking on different sites for something like that . I cannot stand to wear a necklace or bracelet all the time. Jewelry is not for me. So, I thought I would get a key fob for my oxygen bag or car keys. I have so much information that I could not get it on the back of the pendant or whatever. I thought I would just say medical information with drivers liscence. I have all my medical information: Prescriptions, Doctors, Medical conditions, Surgeries, Contacts, etc. all typed up neatly. I carry it in my wallet and in my oxygen bag. I keep it updated and when I go any of my docs or dentist, I take an updated copy. My husband also carries an updated copy. So, at least if something happened while I was out I would have medical info with me and the pendant would draw attention to shere it was kept. Now, if something happened at home when I was alone, I would not have my portable bag with all my information with me. What if I had to call 911 when I was home alone and would be unable to tell them anything, I wouldn't have my portable bag so no info....then what. I know there are medic alert bracelets, etc which have computer chips that hospitals can scan and be able to get your complete history. I am not able to afford that just yet. Also want to check it out a little further. I know that many lives are lost because medical information is unknown to first responders and emergency personel. What have you all heard about the medical alert systems. ? I don't know if I trust them. Just been trying to think this one out. I know I need to do something. Guest guest Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 i looked at an alert system too, they are $30 a month for the service so nearly $400 a year just for the service alone and that does nt count the equipment needed to make it work..... jaime PF 10-05 > > > > after my scare thursday night, luckily my mom was home. but what if > > she hadn't been?? would my kids have thought to call 911 or at least > > go to a neighbor for help?? > > > > i know this isn't much consolation for me but i did order a medical ID > > bracelet from www.911medalert.com > > > > of course i got the cheapest one on there...$19.95 plus shipping. the > > item number is 3366 and it comes with free engraving if anyone else is > > interested. > > > > > > jaime PF 10-05 > > > Quote
Guest guest Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Beth IS a nerd, most definitely. You know that old song, "I Enjoy Being a Girl"? well my version is I Enjoy Being a Nerd!! LOL It's fun to me. The one thing I forgot to mention is I labeled the USB drive in big red letters, MEDICAL INFORMATION. That makes it a little more obvious what the thing is. It can be plugged into any computer with a USB port. Ambulances generally have them, police have them in their vehicles and of course, hospitals have them. And apparently as my friend Jim the paramedic told me they are being trained now to look for them as more and more people have them. Beth IPF 06/06Draw close. Hold hands. Life is short. God is good.
