Good question. I'm married and it is tough on a marriage. I couldn't imagine trying to nurture a budding relationship. I'm sure it depends on the stage of your illness.

I didn't know I had FMS when I was dating my now hubby, but I knew I wasn't healthy. I told him up front. Well, not our first date but when things started getting serious, I told him that I was not a healthy person and never was going to be that being with me would probably mean that he'd have to take care of me someday maybe soon. Then I ended up having to have surgery so he knew I wasn't kidding.... I gave him his out. I said if you can't handle it, or don't want to deal with it then it is ok to admit that and get out now. No hard feelings, I just need to know if you are here that you know what you are in for and are willing to stay until the "end". He wanted/wants to stay.

He did tell me this year, "I knew you were sick, and you did warn me but"..

he admitted... "I had no idea just how sick that meant. It is so hard, it isn't what I expected. {This is where my heart dropped and I couldn't swallow because you can imagine what I thought the next sentence was going to be..} ........................{tears welling up in my eyes}.............................

..................

.............

......

He finished with.. " But I want to be with you even if that means I have to carry you on my back." (whew, THANK YOU GOD)

A good man is hard to find, and even the best of men have extreme difficulty with illness. When you do find him, don't let go. Trust me, he is out there.

Love to You and Yours.......Alenna

I am single, 53 and wondering, how do you date when you have our troubles. How do you get someone to understand? I don't like being alone but I am afraid of being rejected or someone getting mad at me. ine
