Guest guest Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 My Dr. started me out on 25mg for a week, and then up me to 50mg, it took the second day before I notice the difference, but the 50 mg works as long as I don't over do, if I do, then I need a vicoden also. Remember it takes a while for your body to adjust. Hoolihanma Quote
Guest guest Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 It might take until the 2nd patch. If not tell the Doctor. wrote: I just got put on the Fentanyl patch 50 mcg/h and put my first one on and I haven't felt anything and it has been about 10 hours??? Quote
Guest guest Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 You take the plastic off, and one side sticks, like a band aid, then you have the patch on right. The sticky side you place on your body. I take hospital tape and put over the patch for it can come off before the three days are up, when I take a shower or move just right it will come off. So the other tape helps. I must admit the patch can be a pain to put on, and after the 3 days are up, there isn't much left of the patch. I try putting the patch on my leg, and that seem to fall off faster than when I place it on my body. But does it help. Hoolihanma Quote
Guest guest Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 , it took me a few days for the patch to work. Now it continues to work and I enjoy the outcome of it much better. Ne. Quote
Guest guest Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Give it a few days, and you will know, the pain level will go down so you will know that. But as I said, I can sleep, sit and walk a short ways, without wanting to scream. If I over do, the pain level will go back to square one. You have to remember just cause the feeling of pain is down, the problem is still there. Give your body a few days, I would say 6, and keep a journal on how you feel. My Dr. try me on 25mg for two weeks, and then up it to 50mg, where we are staying at for now for a month. Hoolihanma Quote
Guest guest Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 , You are probably undermedicated, it is very common.. I was on 175 mcg of duragesic. It is a very effective means of pain mgmt, you just need to get the doses correct. Also watch the adhesive- it doesn't always stick well. But ask about increasing your dose- it is really good. Guest guest Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 , How do you get it to stick? Re: Re: Fentanyl patch... , it took me a few days for the patch to work. Now it continues to work and I enjoy the outcome of it much better. Ne. Quote

Guest guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Hi , I started out on only 12 of the duragesic/fentanyl patch, now that I am up to 25 I have more relief for sure. It took me a few days to get used to having the new medicine in my system. When it wears off, I take diladid as needed..I hope you are finding relief Quote
Guest guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 Hi , To get the patch to stick I use " sure-site " windows...its the CVS brand...they are adhesives that go right over the patch, I can shower and everything and it doesn't budge for the 3 days. I hope this helps... Quote
Guest guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 , That sounds worth looking into " sure site " ! My doctor started me with the 50 mcg patches. I have had it on for almost 20 hrs and no dice still?? Re: Fentanyl patch... Hi , I started out on only 12 of the duragesic/fentanyl patch, now that I am up to 25 I have more relief for sure. Guest guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 , I would see how you do the rest of the day...the 12 took a long time for me to feel some relief, I started so low cause I am only 96 pounds! I am doing much better on the 25, so maybe your doctor will need to adjust your dosage for the right amount. Keep me posted please, I hope this afternoon will get better for you... Quote
Guest guest Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 I use the bio adhesives that you can get through , it is the company that makes the brand name duragesic patches, you put them over the patch and it stays on for the full time that is needed. Ne Quote
