Well, what can I say? , you have got me pegged for sure. I will take

your advice and just hold off for a while on raising that Lantus dose.

<smile>

I know that Humalog insulin is on a meal or snack basis, and this depends on

how many carbs one consumes at each meal or snack. I was just thinking on

what the relationship of Lantus to Humalog there might be on a 15 carb

intake per meal. For now I will just let it ride, since as you say, most

people would like to have my glucose readings of late.

Also it is a pain in the arse to get the levels out of wack and spend the

three or four days getting it back in line.

excellent Harry! When in *the world* are you going to get your a1c done

man? I can't wait to see it!!!! BTW have them do your cholesterol as well

LDL, HDL, and trigliserites. Am curious to see how cutting your carbs back

have helped all those levels.

I was due to get the A1C done this week, however, a rock through the car

window caused me to have to change the appointment with the doctor for lab

work. I have rescheculed it for next week. So I should know something

within the next two or three weeks.

Your check list is absolutely correct! When I t ravel, I always bring extra

everything -including food for my guide dog-as one never knows whaat delays

yo c an have!

Re: advice for Harry

Now make that a third time for missing Lantus, and I agree that I don't

believe it would be wise to miss the Lantus dose more than one day at a

time, but if one has their glucose levels under control, missing a day of

Lantus does not cause disasterous results. I think a diabetic is going to

have to become like a private pilot. He always goes through his checklist

before he takes off from the airport. Since I pilot this ship called this

body of mine, I had better develop a checklist of essentials for my control

and survival. For instance one should have on hand a minimum of four days

of medication available at all times and this would also include syringes

and needles and alcohol wipes. I would also recommend that when going on a

trip the necessary supplies for each day are carried plus an extra week of

needed medications, since one never knows what will happen on a trip or when

one will be returning for sure. Oh yeah, and for sure be sure to have the

checklist available for checking off the essentials before departing. So I

am going to get right on making up a checklist of essentials right now, and

if you have further suggestions, please advise.

I like your idea for setting an alarm clock for taking your Lantus, since I

sometimes forget to take it at a specific time and I have been as late as

three hours in taking my dose of Lantus at the usual time I take at night

around 9:30PM.
