Hi Judy and welcome to the group. Being recently widowed is a lot to deal with on its own. I'm sure all the emotions you need to feel are not helping settle your physical pain or your blood pressure level. On its own, chronic pain can raise your blood pressure significantly. Throw in emotional distress and the BP level is bound to climb in anyone that's remotely prone to having high blood pressure. I know when my blood pressure first started skyrocketing, I'd have trouble breathing restfully and got wickedly dizzy whenever I stood up. High BPs run in my family and don't seem to be related to much of anything to do with our lifestyles. We've got smokers, non smokers, teetotallers, drunks, high strung, laid back, etc. -- all with high blood pressure. I hope we can be of some help to you. We are most often serious. Fortunately on occasion one of us will throw in some humour and lighten the mood. Several of our members have pictures posted in the Photo section. So, if you'd like to know who is who, just go to our home page at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/chronic_pain/ and click on Photos. -- Lyndi Quote
