Salba or Chia

Good Morning to you all -

Is anyone familiar with a product called " Salba " ? Touted as Nature's Perfect

Whole Food. It is also apparently Chia or what they use for Chia Pets?

It looks like whole flax seed and has 4.1 grams of insoluble fiber per

tablespoon.

We are wondering if it is a safe product to use (looking for gluten free fiber

source) and also wondering if anyone has used it and if it needs to be ground

before adding it to foods.

Any ideas welcome!

Have a great day,

There should few articles on Salba/chia appearing in the upcoming

Gluten intolerance group newsletter. I have one that describes what

chia is and the other on using it in baking.

In a nutshell, all chia should be GF, Salba brand is certified GF by

GIG. It can be used whole or ground, depending on the texture you're

going for. Usually ground is better for baked goods. It's an

excellent substitute for eggs, too!
