Between Al en (the author of the aforementioned book) and the guy from American Idol (Clay), who is a big advocate for autism rights, we finally may have something mediawise. Guest guest
My next older brother was here yesterday. He is no more social than I when it comes to family, but he stopped by on a trip back home from fishing. He used to be a big Rush fan. (gag) Now he says he only goes online to check email and to read " Grudge " I think it's spelled like that the Grudge report. I hope that Grudge is a better influence to my brother than Rush (Camille spits). My crazy professor makes us listen to " democracy now " . I'm glad he is. Just learned that Coke is complicit in some very open murder and lesser abuses in Columbia " At Coke's annual shareholders' meeting, labor rights activist Ray , confronted Coca-Cola Chairman and CEO Daft, citing the murder of two union leaders who filed suit in a federal court in Florida, alleging Coke contracted with paramilitary death squads to torture, kidnap, and murder union leaders at its bottling plants in Columbia. joins us in our firehouse studio. " I'd like to teach the world to sing...in perfect harmony...I'd like to buy the world a Coke..... Camille > Rush is a " Big Fat Idiot. " It's the title of a book on the NY Times > Bestseller List. (gag) I was surprised to find several Rush fans speaking up on the OASIS/Maelstrom board. Here's what I posted on the subject: [Warning: soapboxing ahead] I think many people enjoy RL because he validates their easy way of thinking about the world. They really want to be able to feel " okay " about basing their opinions on prejudice and rumor/half-truths (instead of doing the hard work of finding out the reality and learning how to understand new things). His program, from what I have heard, is a celebration of the " right " to express one's uninformed opinion and claim that, since it is your opinion, it is as " valid " as anyone else's opinion (even as valid as an opinion based on real information). It is a way to claim respect without bothering to make one's self worthy of respect. (The sad thing is that everyone *is* worthy of respect, period. So there is no need to make exaggerated " claims " in that regard. What many people forget is that not all opinions are equally worthy of respect. Respectful attention, perhaps, which RL certainly doesn't provide. But when it comes right down to it. not all opinions are equally valid. And being willing to adjust one's opinions as one learns new information, or gains new ability to comprehend, is a major requirement of good citizenship.) Guest guest
Hi, I think you put it right. He would package every thing is such a tidy package and then use the most vicious sarcasm and mockery against people who were his betters, and against those who were just as bad as him. the man is horrible. He has made comments about the Bible in the context of " see how righteous I am I refer to the Bible, just like good politicians do... " and the stuff he said was just plain wrong. I mean he had the basic facts of stories wrong. A girl in my class told me that she was pretty sure there was a scripture that said Jesus wasn't good looking and that he had a big nose. (NO) No one knows what he looked like and the Bible says nothing about what he looked like, except he pretty much had to have a beard since it was required by the Mosaic law. That's the kind of junk Limbaugh was saying, and I just want to hurt the man....<deep breathing.> not just for that.....either.... Camille > >My next older brother was here yesterday. Guest guest
I found it by accident today, maybe it's Drudge...I've forgotten already. I think it is conservative. Knowing my brother it probably is, but Drudge doesn't have the same grandstanding attitude as far as I know... Camille > LOL!! Isn't the Grudge report conservative too, or am I confusing it with > something else?
