Guest guest
Lynnette from Vermont - I have fibro on the top of my left foot - my doctor just shakes her head at me and says, yes, it's part of your body, you can have it there. I also have a lot of the symptoms, aches and pains and bodily problems as most everyone else here on this list has posted. I, too, have days where it is all I can do to take care of my personal needs, also. I have days where I sit wrapped up in afghans when it is 90 degrees outside because I cannot get warm. And I am not sweating, either. It's the fibro, plus the other things they have diagnosed me with. I keep telling my doctor and therapist if they diagnose me with anything else, I will have more alphabet after my name than they do. They only smile at me and shake their heads. I hate it when they do that. Oh, and to someone else's response about not being able to spell - I LOVE SPELLCHECK. I don't ever send an email without one. Used to be a Librarian before I totally lost my mind and can't stand the thought of sending someone something that has an incorrect spelling. One of my quirks. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Have to go for now. Rambling. Need to drink more coffee. Guest guest
<Hello Everyone, I read all the time but guess other than one post it has been close to a year since I have posted. My name is Lynette and I live in a small town in Lincoln County Tennessee close to Fayetteville.> Hi Lynette, I am glad that you posted. It is nice to meet you. I don't know how in the world you manage to work doing the type of work you do with all the pain and also, the spine problems you have. I am on disability. I had to stop working in March 2002 because I was falling asleep from the meds and crying because of the pain at my desk. I have fibro in my feet too. They hurt all the time. I have heard of Topamax and have even talked to my doc about trying it. The only thing I know is it is simiilar to Neurontin whereas Neurontin tends to make you gain weight, supposedly Topamax makes you lose weight. I also have problems with freezing, but a recent blood test showed that I wasn't getting nearly enough of my thyroid medicine. My doc increased it this week. I'll have to wait and see if it makes a difference once it gets into my system good. Another temp issue is that sometimes I wake up with the upper portion of my body totally sweaty even in my hair. The room isn't warm when that happens and I m guessing it is from fibro. It doesn't happen all the time, but does still happen. Please let us hear from you more than once a year. :-) hugs, Sundra
Guest guest
Lynette....you are such a courageous person. How in the world do you work?????? It blows my mind that people with fibro can work. I work, too, but I am a piano teacher so I set my own hours and the number of kids I teach. I have arthritis in my feet.....have had surgery for that 3 times. But fibro? I can't always tell the difference. Hugs, Cam Good Morning Everyone Hello Everyone, I read all the time but guess other than one post it has been close to a year since I have posted. My name is Lynette and I live in a small town in Lincoln County Tennessee close to Fayetteville. I have 2 children daughter 20 Leah, and son 15 Chad, and a wonderful wonderful Husband. Have had Fibro for 21 years, only being diagnosed 2 years ago this August. I have Hidradentiis Suppurativa and have had it for 25 years only diagnosed 5 years ago. I have bulging discs in back with 2 torn discs. Not a candidate for surgery. I work at a retail clothing store where I am assistant Manager. Breaking down shipments lifting 30 to 70 lbs at a time etc. on feet 8 to 10 hours a day etc. you get the picture. Well now I have some answers to some questions and some questions. As far as being able to wipe Yes! I can hardly do it some days I thought I was going crazy and getting lazy! But then some days I could do it. But that is not all sometimes I can not wash my bootie good either, just like wiping. And fixing my hair? It is getting to be next to impossible. Between taking a bath getting ready and actually getting to work I'm already so tired and hurting so bad I can hardly go when I get there. As far as Pets? WE have a Doxie and 2 beautiful cats yes they make up for something I have missing inside I think and bring extra joy to the family that I can't. Now for the questions I have? I take Topamax has anyone tried this and what success have you had with it? We have tried so many. Was taking the Ammiptitripilyne, but it got to where it didn't work, and then tried others got to where they didn't work etc. Body got used to the Celebrex so now I take Voltaren was taken Piroxicam but body became used to it, and there have been others but became immune to them also so right now Voltaren. Take effexor for the depression. Take Tramadol for the pain at work doesn't do much but 2 will take the edge off so that I can work without crying to much. Toradol helps but can only use it for the Migraines I get. Lortab and other big ones only use when I am going to be off a couple of days in a row they knock me loopy. I rarely get two days off in a row. I hurt so bad when I get home that it takes me a long time to go to bed and then a long time to get to sleep. Heck it is a major chore just to get out of my car and make it into the house. Yesterday I did shipment all day long and the day before. My body hurt so bad last night that I guess I got 2 hours good sleep. Everyone muscle, bone, ligament, I have is in pain. My shoulders and neck are killing me shoulders can't support my head, knees and leg muscles are killing me arm muscles are killing etc. What does everyone else do that works to relieve some of this pain? And my feet hurt, does anyone else have the fibro in their feet? Ok big question here, for years but not often thank God I get freezing fits where I can not get warm. I freeze just like I am in a blizzard without any clothes on and this may go on for 2 or 3 hours, does anyone else do that? Well since I have written a book I will let you read it now. Love and hugs to all Lynette 1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
Hi Lynette and welcome to the group. I love to read, too. I never go anywhere without a book. You sound like you are really tired when you come home from work. I used to work but haven't been able to work for the past 2 years. I'm glad you joined...this is a great group...lots of friendly and caring people! Kay
