Guest guest
le, the best thing you can do for your sister, is to continue believing in her, supporting her and helping her as best you can. I think for some the worst thing is to be thought of as faking and or being a hypocondriac and the docs not taking this seriously. She needs to maybe find a new doc. You are already a good and loyal sister. I think many on this group will be of help to you. dash Hi, my name is le. I recently joined this group because my sister has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She is having a hard time with her work... she works for a couple days then the pain is so bad she has to take time off to recouperate. Her doctor isn't a help at all, the drugs he prescribes don't work and when she tells him it hurts to work he implies that she is lazy. I feel really bad for my sister and I wish there was something i could do for her... I hate ------snipped
Guest guest
Hi le. Sorry that I didn't reply sooner... I've been meaning to... but so many things were happening for me these last few days. I just wanted to say.... you are an amazing sister to join this group in order to help your sister. That is amazing. Not many " non-fibro " people would do that. She is lucky to have you on her side. I hope you can get your questions answered here and tell your sister to come on in... the water is warm :-) hugs, Norah Hello all! Hi, my name is le. I recently joined this group because my sister has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Her doctor isn't a help at all, the drugs he prescribes don't work and when she tells him it hurts to work he implies that she is lazy. I feel really bad for my sister and I wish there was something i could do for her... I hate seeing her in pain all the time. Through looking on-line at information about fibromyalgia I noticed there is not alot of it out there and many sites say almost the exact same things. I feel that this group might be able to answer some of the questions my family and I have about the disease, and will be a good support network for us. Thank you, le
Guest guest
Hi le, I'm sorry to hear your sister has fibro. The first thing I would suggest is she get another doctor. Is this possible? She needs something for her pain. No one should have to suffer. Does she work full time? How long has she had it? Please ask away...I'm sure someone here will be able to answer it. Guest guest
dear danielle, it's wonderful that you and your family are so willing to watch out for your sister. it seems a lot of families don't. i'm very lucky in that my family supports me totally. it sounds like your sister needs to change drs and also see a rheumatologist. they can help her more than a general practice dr can. i don't know of any websites to direct you too. but i know that this is one of the best. another way of finding out answers to specific questions is to go back in the archives (earlier posts) and check different posts to see what they say about things. also ask specific questions. are you in america? if so your sister being a working woman is eligible for SSD and medicaid (also medicare if she can get SSD, medicaid only if she is eligible for SSI). it is important that she get signed up for it. b/c it can take several years to get. how are her bosses dealing w/her calling in sick so much? the calling in sick is a matter of fibromites. we have low immune systems and suffer from irritable bowel syndrome and are easily fatigued. i hope that helps some. good luck, nancy in reno > Hi, my name is le.
