Hi all,

I am a 28 year old female. It looks like I will have surgery to

release my tethered cord in the next few weeks. My surgeon tells me

it is quite a simple operation as I have only a thickened filum with

no other problems. Has anyone had surgery for this condition before?

I am told I will probably be on hospital 5-6 days and then maybe 6

weeks before going back to work?? I am curious to know from you what

it was like for you after surgery??? How did it feel?? Was it a slow

or fast recovery?? What was the pain like?? I realise every

individual case is different but I need some re assurance that

everything will be Ok. I am quite scared!!

Thanks

I just had that surgery a week and a half ago and I am doing

great. I only spent one night in the hospital. The first night I had

quite abit of pain but since then it has been getting better. If there

is anything else I can tell you I would be happy.

Hi Bruce

Great to hear from you so quickly. Did you not have to lie in

hospital for 2 days to prevent CSF leakage?? I am surprised you were

allowed to go home so quickly. Did you have trouble at all walking

after the surgery?

Thanks,

No the doc said after the fist day after lunch if I could sit up for 2

hours and not get a headache I could go home. I had some trouble

walking the first day but after that it wasn't too bad.

Thanks Bruce

Your message has eased my mind a bit about having surgery!! If you

don't mind could I ask how old you are? I'm 28.

Thanks
