Guest guest
I just got back from the Rheummy and I am stopping MTX!! yeah!!!! I get an 8 week trial of no MTX injections. I stay on Enbrel and Bextra. We want to see if I stay stable or need more. If I need more medication we will try arava again. Since all my liver functions have been normal so far he is hoping I will do as well back on Arava. I stopped the Arava a year a go because it stopped working and my doc moved me up to MTX. MTX was good at first went I did not get all the nasty side effects. I had them all!! while on pills I hav constant nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness and headache. Then I got the can be fatal lung involvement called drug induced pneumonitis. My doc stopped the pills and the pain got worst..so after a month of suffering I went back on MTX injections. I got my nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness and headache back. I also have three bonus side effects of mouth, throat and eye sores!!! YUCK!!! I hate this med....it didn't matter how much Folic acid or Leukovorin I took. The side effects raged on. Since I have had my lapband weight loss surgery nausea and vomiting it totally out of the questions. My doc agrees. He had no good news for my ankle pain other than keep doing what I am doing and hopefully it will settle down in a few weeks. I am also off prednisone!!! yeah!!! I hope I can stay off. You knew that the side effects you were experiencing were outweighing the benefits, and you obviously communicated that effectively to the doctor--resulting in a new plan. It's so important to trust ourselves on this journey and to speak up as you did! I have a feeling that things are going to go much better for you now. All the best!
