Guest guest
Hi, My first external memory has helped alot. it's my PDA, which is old and heavy compared to 's. It's an HP Jornada, they don't make them anymore. Anyway, it beeps well enough and everything to remind me. Most of the time it beeps from inside my purse, and that's ok. But there are situations where I need reminders and can't have the PDA with me. When I am working, for instance I leave my purse locked in the car because I am very likely to do go home without it. I forget my purse easily... I found a reference to a watch that had like 40 pre-programmed messages like " call the doctor " , " call home " , " take pills " . It was about 50 dollars I think. I didn't really like the idea of pre programmed messages. I also knew about the PDA watches that can hook up by wire to regular PDA's or computers with Palm software... those are more expensive and mostly are for storing " contacts " - which I don't need since I don't like people and I have no reason to " contact " any of them. Having these in mind I decided to check out the local drug store's case of watches and found, with some help, a Timex watch for male athletes. It has 7 programmable alarms You can set them to go off everyday at different times or you can give it the date you want it to go off just once. You can't tell it to go off every 10th day or every Tues. You can create the messages, up to 20 characters by slowly selecting them (you have to go through the alphabet if you want a " R " and then click and go to the next blank and go through the alphabet again to get an " O " ..... " ) This is all new to me, so it took a while to figure it out. Anyway! The good news is that I can carry it in my pocket or put it on my wrist - although it's too big and looks very clunky on me- I'll carry it in my pocket mostly. It tells time in two time zones and has a stop watch ... Oh, and its got " indiglo " so I can see it in the dark. This one is $35 normally, I got it on sale. Timex makes a more expensive one that does a couple of other things...can't remember what. It's for keeping track of something to do with exercising, or athletics...whatever that is. But you can make longer messages, or something like that on it. Camille
