Guest guest
Gail, I am so happy for you that you FINALLY got a firm diagnosis and a doctor that is willing to help you. It is so hard to take when the doctors won't help. fibro isn't a good diagnosis, but at least it is A diagnosis and something that can be worked with. I hope your tests, MRI, and physical therapy can get you on the way to feeling a little better. Guest guest
Just a note, I too went to a Pain specialist. She asked for an MRI, MRA and skull xray. She won't mention Fibro and I found out today why.. her receptionist and I were talking and she said that she won't diagnosis it because it actually can hurt the patient. Said if you go to get insurance, change etc that they will not insure you and if they do its a 1 year waiting period. She said the doc will call it myalgia but not fibro, and I am being treated as if I have it, nothing was found in the tests so we are still searching for answers. Changes in meds.. my head is spinning, I can't keep up. Anyways I thought that was kind of interesting.
Guest guest
Gail....you had a wonderful loving experience with the doc and I'm so glad for you. Isn't it great to finally be vindicated....you knew all along that something was wrong, but it took this woman to find it. Thank God. I hope your therapy helps you and that you get some pain relief. Remember that pain does alter your brain chemistry so if you start thinking goofy thoughts it's the pain talking. Good luck in your treatment. Love, Camilla Gail In Ga's Pain Specialist Visit. Hey Everyone, Not sure if this is good news or bad, but at least I have a confirmed answer.. My Pain Specialist said, that I DEFINATELY DO have Fibro, in fact, My Muscles were so bunched and had so many knots she could hardly find the real muscles underneath... Then she felt along my spine, and said Were going to get you a MRI, but I can Feel the inflamation in your spinal column, from the middle of my back down to my tailbone, She said Theres arthritis there too, but to see how much, Were going to get that MRI. She also checked my feet, and said that theres alot of bumps in my feet also, probably more fibro and Arthritis combined, to give my feet that sore feeling like Im walking on Gravel,, Well Everyone I must say, I used to be a tough cookie, almost tomboyish,, you know you dont shivel your lip and cry in public ever.. I burst into tears,, and said After seeing 5 different Docotors you are the one that Finally agrees with me... Shes a little woman maybe 5 ft,, Im 5 ft 8,, I gave her the biggest hug and said,, Please Excuse me,, but Im so happy to have a NAME, I can call it something and not have people and other Dr.s look at me like Im faking, or just wanting drugs.... She laughed at me and said,, well Maybe If I tell my husband he has fibro he will hug me,, WE both Laughed!!!! Then after all the emotion and tears, she put me on some mild, ( I think) muscle relaxers... And for Physical Therapy were doing a combination of Hydro Water Massage and electro,, muscle massage.... I know this prognisis is bitter sweet,, and Im still sick and hurt all over, but just the thought of having a Doctor finally believe me and say,, Yes My Dear, There is Such a Thing as Fibromalgia!!!!! She said she can see several other things wrong with me, but she wants to do the MRI to confirm before she tells me more and scares the daylights out of me. Well Everyone, I pray you all find answers and have as painless a night as possiable,,, Im going for a warm soak, one of those mild muscle relaxers and read a good scary mystery in bed. Thank God for you all and your advice, I dont know what Id do without each and everyone of you. Gail in Ga....... 1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general. 2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better. Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
Do you realize how MUCH the insurance companies are running OUR health care. It is criminal, but I don't know how to stop it. My doc has talked very openly to me about it.......I guess cause people know I am old they think they can tell me anything..which is true....but anyhow, he is extremely bitter about this situation and doesn't know how much longer he can stand being a doc. He does not get to treat his patients the way he thinks best.....but the way the insurance companies...who don't know us personally....think we should be treated. It is immoral and criminal and they are making billions of doctors. While we suffer. End of soapbox. LOL Love, Cam Re: Gail In Ga's Pain Specialist Visit. Guest guest
The health care system in this country will fall, it is really scary how corrupted it has become. It IS NOT the doctors however, but I am afraid they will be the ones blamed. dash Re: Gail In Ga's Pain Specialist Visit. Do you realize how MUCH the insurance companies are running OUR health care.
