I have tethered cord. Not my children, but the doctors have told me that no

way was it hereditary.

I don't think they know. Both my sister and I have it and I'm sure my mom did

too but it was not found unless when the surgeon said her striffin(?) Was

fastened to her back bone when he did surgery.

I'd have to disagree on that one. All three of my kids have tethered spinal

cord and when seeing thier nsg she said yes it does run in families.

Hi

I have four children. Two have spina bifida occulta and NO tethered cord or

Arnold Chiari Malformation! (Had all four MRI'd.)

I really think my mom and myself just aren't great at producing/keeping

folic acid in our systems and that if I had taken additional doses when I

was pregnant, the two that do have SBO wouldn't have it. (Although back

when I was pregnant, no one had a clue I had this condition.)

Tell her to follow all of her doctor's orders and don't forget to take the

folic acid before becoming pregnant and during her pregnancy.
