Guest guest
I have heard from different people at different times that there is a JCAHO standard referring specifically to asking the patient and/or family what their goal(s) are for treatment. We are in the process of reviewing our evaluation process so I wanted to research this issue further. I have gone through the JCAHO manual and found nothing specific to patient/family goals. The closest I could find was PE 1.1 that states, " The scope and intensity of any further assessment are based on the patient's diagnosis, the care setting, the patient's desire for care, and the patient's response to any previous care. " I went through the Patient Rights and Organizational Ethics section (RI), the Assessment of Patients section (PE), Care of Patients (Tx), and the Education section (PF). Does anyone have further information on this? If you know of a JCAHO standard that pertains to patient/family goals, can you pass that along to me? Thanks!
