We are working on skin integrity standing orders and have a difference of

opinion with our dept director (not an RD, but going to school for that).

He found an article from Wound Care Canada recommending up to 40 and 40+

cal/Kg for Severe wounds/ Stage IV Pressure ulcers and Burns. Are you guys

going up to 40 and 40+ calories? Also while we are at it, what

recommendations are you using for protien? And are there any new or

different recommendations for Vit C, Zinc, Multivitamins?

I recommend references by Litchford, PhD, RD for the latest in

nutritional approaches for treating skin integrity issues.

If you have access to ADA's Nutrition Care Manual, it has information on

what is recommended for people with pressure ulcers. The NCM suggests

~30 cals/kg or per individual basis for people w/ pressure ulcers.
