Tammy, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. At one point in

time, a long, long time ago, both spellings are/were correct. If you check some

of the older dictionaries (you know, the ones that come in book form on all of

our shelves somewhere :-) ), many older versions will list both spellings as

correct. I think this is another case of a word that has adapted/evolved over

time in an attempt to create a more uniform spelling standard.
