Guest guest
Natasha, I was pregnant with my last one and having symptoms of fm. The only thing that seemed to help was lots of rest. Since many meds cross the placental barrier it is a good idea to check with your OB/GYN as to what can be safely taken. And make sure to ask any other doc that is giving you a medication if it is safe for pregnancy. If you are asking about hydocodone - it is a pregnancy category C which means that " risk cannot be ruled out. There is a chance of fetal harm if the drug is administered during pregnancy; but potential benefits may outweigh the potential risk " . In layman's words this means - they do not know enough about the drug to say for certain if anything will happen to the baby and that sometimes the harm from not taking it (whatever side effects from the pain on your body) is worse than the risk of taking it. Check with one of your doctors before taking it - a lot of times the biggest risk is in the first 3 months when all the cell changes are occurring, so some may be okay after that to take. The group seems to see a variety of doctors. Some of the ones I've heard mentioned are: rheumatologists, internal med doctors, gp's, chiropractors, pain clinics or specialists, physical therapists, & neurologists. In my opinion the pain specalists seem to do best with the meds that they are willing to give out (such as narcotics). A few of the members seem to be blessed with a dr that understands fm and will give meds and really listen. Neither my gp or my rheumy will give me anything stronger than darvocet, which is unacceptable. I have been seen at a pain clinic in the past for hip pain, that I now know is a product of the fm, and plan to return to them since I know they will help with the pain. I hope that helps answer your questions and that I wasn't too long winded in doing so <g>. Guest guest
Hi a I am not taking any meds for the FMS until i have had the baby thats the advice from the neuro guy. I am already on lots of meds for other things at that is bad enough while i am pg. I have had Hypermisis (severe sicknees needing hosp treatment and steriods to stop it) and i am still on meds of that as i am still sick and i am taking others for other probs i already have, so until this baby is born they will do and i willget ready for the others after the birth.I work in health and i am all to aware of drugs in pg and ther dangers etc and alway check anything out that i would /could take.My OB is very good as he is a fetal med specialest and i am seeing him due to Carys's conditon and passing. At my next app i will talk with him about the FMS as he has only just got the letter from the neuro guy this week and siad once he did he would find out more about the FMS. As for Hydro i meant Hydrotherpy. which i can have at my local hosp so i will ask to be referd to the physio. I seem to be having really bad flare ups while i am pg thank goodness i only have 7 more weeks left at work before i finish. But i am of sick at the mo. I dont think the neuro guy wants to see me again so i am going to get my GP to refer me back to the pain Clinic as the doc there is great and i am very sure he will know about FMS. I also think my GP will be good as if she does not know about it i am sure she willo be willing to learn alongside me. I am 25 weeks pg at the min while i was in hosp with pain all down my right side they did give me some tramadol for the pain ( and that was when i did not know i had FMS) but it sent me wacky and i had palpations and was out of my head.So i stopped that. I have taken a few painkillers since my acc and the most afective was mepited. but i am not taking anything at the mo. IF i need to while i am pg i am sure they will admitt me and give me treatment. As for your post being long winded I an type the back legs of a donkey. But i better go as my DH has told me i have been sat at the comp to long which i have and now i am really sore. thanks for all your info will keep you updated on my progress which i am sure will be slow at the mo. Guest guest
Hi Natasha! When my daughter was pregnant, she was given Tylenol #3 for her migraine pain. So that should work for you. ) > Hi I know i have already asked this but is there anyone else who can > help. > > Natasha > > > Hello, > > Here are my first few questions > > > > One question is has any been preg and had FMS at the same time how > > did you cope was there anything that helped you? > > I cant take any painkillers other than paracetmal and they are no > > good.
