Guest guest
I like the Anti-virus, internet security package suggestion. Might not be the answer but I have been updating versions and licenses for our Kaspersky and changing from the Internet Security to their fuller package PURE and sure as heck if some of the settings to allow certain programs freedom from too much scanning and the like after the re-install even though the setting such swap over. Now Google is pretty well known and you would hope that the average update would know to respect it's place on your machine, but I've seen wackier things before. And in our case the two programs that make up a majority of our charting system, AC and FAP had to be added to the safe list on 3 different computers now as well as having our little internal intranet network recognized as home and trusted too... even though it was listed as such just before the updates that we supposed to remember these kinds of settings... Guest guest
I have a question for the computer cognoscenti: Would this have anything to do the recent gmail security breach? Has gmail stepped up its security activity? I like the Anti-virus, internet security package suggestion. Guest guest
Ron,Sorry but I am not a computer expert. I am just a guy who spends too much time on the computer. Here are my thoughts:1. Have you tried turning off your anti-virus software completely to see if you continue to have the same problem with Gmail? If the problem goes away when you do this, then you know there is an incompatibility and you need to configure your anti-virus program to allow Gmail to do its thing without the anti-virus interfering with it.2. Try changing your web browser. If you are using Internet Explorer, try Firefox or Chrome.3. You could use a different e-mail program to access Gmail. For example, you can use Outlook to read and reply to Gmail:http://www.lytebyte.com/2009/08/11/guide-to-setup-gmail-imap-in-outlook-2010/4. Upgrade your operating system from Windows XP to Windows 7, if you haven't already.5. You could make your like simpler and easier and just get a Mac.If the problem doesn't go away, then I suggest that you contact a computer expert and ask for advice. Guest guest
I notice when I had Norton and Mcafee antivirus programs, my PC got super slow. I got rid of them and use the free version of AVG and the PC runs better. Always is a good idea to keep the system up to date. I took the MAC idea and I loved it, I need to play more with my MAC. Guest guest
GAry, My next step was to try via Firefox, BUT today, the problem is GONE . I did reboot again: perhaps some of the deletions didnt complete until reboot. I did try using Chrome prior to that and no better. Go figure. Thanks for your good advice.
