I'll be working also.....(don't matter to me..it is holiday pay..and I don't

consider it a holiday anyways)....see yas on the air!

........and reference last new years eve....

....the best arrest we had last year was of a cab driver, driving a drunk

home..LOL..the cabbie was dwi and had a warrant out of our agency. It really

cheesed off the taxi owner who had to scramble to find a driver for that

cab..before it was towed...harharhar...;-)

I will working shift 1 for January 1 which starts at 23:00 on Sunday night and

ends at 07:00 on Monday morning. Tomorrow (Friday) night is my last shift 3

(15:00 to 23:00) so that will be my last regularly scheduled pager tests (fire

department and first aid squad) for the year, the century and the millenium --

and I will make note of it during the nightly messages.

We celebrate New Years Eve tomorrow as the borough holiday so it will be

double time and Monday will be New Years which is double time again but at the

4% more.

Don't feel bad. Our cops get new schedules about every six months. It

always worked out that a certain sergeant always had to work on Christmas but if

there had not been a schedule change he would have been off. BTW, nobody liked

him and he eventually had to resign or be prosecuted for theft of gasoline from

the borough pump after being caught on videotape putting it into his own truck.

Falls Church will do without my services on the eve of 2001.

Hi all, JJ and I will be attending to the Console on New Years Eve.. JJ

volunteered to work from 1900-0700, and I'll get out of there at the stroke

of midnight, SO, NO celebration on this end, eh JJ? May you all have a safe

and Prosperous New Year.. Your right, It is the starting of the REAL

Millennium.. wow, I'll have to think up a real good New Years resolution

this year to blow!! lol at least I am not thinking about going to the

I am also scheduled off for that day, but our department is going to try the

" Sober Ride " thing this year. They have 3 extra officers scheduled, and we in

Comm expressed concern that the increased officer presence would add a huge

burden on the normally scheduled dispatchers. Wish someone would apply tape to

my mouth...cause without thinking beyond that first thought....I said, yep..I

will come in on a " power shift " .....LOL...bet they

did it just because they knew that I would volunteer!!!

New Year's EVE is not a holiday for us in CA state service. I'll be

earning OT pay because I'm working on one of my days off, but not holiday

pay. That's for those who work shifts that START on 1/1/01.

Oh, well, there IS that... we earn a whopping 50 cents an hour for shift

differential. Doesn't matter whether it's " swing " or " graveyard " shift;

it's the same rate for both.

I'll see if I can manage to receive a wireless 9-1-1 call misdirected to MY

I don't know if New Years Eve is a state holiday in NJ, the most densely

populated state in the union. I couldn't even say how many holidays state,

county or employees of other municipalities (we have 566) have negotiated for.

All I can say is what we have in the Borough of NJ and they are: New

Years, Presidents, Good Friday, Memorial, Independence, Labor, Election,

Veterans, Thanksgiving, Burp (day after Turkey Day), Christmas Eve, Christmas

and New Years Eve. That is a total of 13.

As all full time employees work Monday-Friday except the police patrols. If

the holiday falls on Sunday it's celebrated on Monday and if it is on Saturday

it's celebrated on Friday. In the case of New Years or Christmas falling on

Monday, Eve is then celebrated on Friday. The police contract calls for the

patrol holidays to be celebrated on the days they actually fall on.

didn't have a single call Monday day shift. Nobody locked themselves out of

their office and even the fire/intrusion alarms behaved!

I " deep " cleaned the dispatch office and cleaned up my office during the

Christmas break. Yeah! So now I can start the New Year anew...well, not

really since I have to finish up some training next week. But at least I'll

be able to meet with my boss soon and give him my goals for the next year.

How about those other university PD's out there?
