Guest guest
With bars, the devil is in the details. Many people will spend a long time picking apart the quality of the protein, fats, etc. In general, if you are simply using bars for convenience, or as a supplement to several whole foods meals, I would not sweat the content so much. Contrary to advertising hype, you do not need a complete, perfect protein at every meal. All of the constituents of protein (amino acids) are deposited in a " bank " called the amino acid pool and then withdrawn throughout the day. In fact, even vegetarians no longer have to worry so much about combining to have a complete protein at every meal. A huge survey by the World Health Organization demonstrated that simply taking the right combinations over a period of days is sufficient to provide what the body needs. With that, finding a bar you enjoy the taste of and is in your calorie range and that you can afford should be the criteria. I wouldn't sweat a few extra grams of protein or sugars or fats if the overall calories are fine. Your bar SHOULD have more than a few grams of protein, and then either a few grams of fat and/or fiber. This will ensure slower digestion so there are not concerns with blood sugar. As long as it meets those qualifications, it will be fine. And I'm not speaking from opinion .. it is a fact that I know many athletes and bodybuilding competitors who swear by their particular brand of bar ranging from PowerBars to Clif Bars to DeTour and beyond. They all have incredible results, regardless of the bar they choose, so there really is no need to fret over it too much! > Hi everyone. Guest guest
Thanks , your points and advice are well taken. I don't personally use the bars at all, I never have. But my husband has a much harder scheduled than I do and works on the road, so he uses bars a couple of times a week when he can't get a better meal. I think I will go ahead and get him the Oneway bars for now. He has several friends who swear by them who are bodybuilders and have exactly the physique he strives to have, lol, who let him try one and he found it much tastier than the EAS ones. > With bars, the devil is in the details. Guest guest
Ditto what already told you. That said, I like Labrada bars.... cookies and cream or chocolate peanut butter are my personal favourites. Jen B. > Hi everyone.
