Guest guest Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Hello all. We are moving to a new home and we are trying to hire someone to do a mold inspection. Our agent says one company does a tape sample and another company does something called Air-O-Cell, which is $100 more. Does anyone have experience with mold inspections? If so, could you please email me and pass along any info you know! Thoughts? Input? Thanks, Kalis Quote
Guest guest Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 We just did this - if you do the air sample they should do one in the middle of the house and one at a place where they are measuring outside air coming in so you can determine how much higher the mold content of the inside is vs outside. The tape or swab will find out exactly which strains of mold exist on surfaces which can help you determine how far you need to go in remediating that mold. Our strain was not one of the 'toxic' kinds so I decided to take care of cleanup myself using a bleach solution and an R-95 air mask and hepa vaccume to 'scrub' the air of any mold spores that may get loose during cleaning, but they are mush less likely to fly when wet... The bottom line with mold though is you can't get rid of it 100% and it will come back if you don't solve the reason why the moisture is there, for us that means we need to remove a few large trees who's roots are causing the land to shift and we need to relay the land so that water flows around and away from the house instead of underneath. You can go to www.cal-iaq.org for more info... HTH, near LAX > > Hello all. We are moving to a new home and we are trying to hire > someone to do a mold inspection. Guest guest Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 , We use Larry Gust to do an inspection of our house, he seemed quite thorough. Check out the 2 web sites below they are good sources of information. Hope this helps, Nora http://www.healbuildings.com/index.html http://moldwarriors.com/ > Hello all.
