Guest guest
just wanted an idea of how you let your customers know that your product is free from microbial growth. Thanks, cindy jones cindy- I haven't actually done much about it yet--I seem to be in a learning, not working curve--The only thing I did was refer to the fact that my products were tested by a reputable lab prior to being offered for sale. I figured that would go a long way, since so very few cottage industry businesses seem to know how simple or important it is.If I add anything it would probably be a statement something like " in accordance with the FDA " or something as vague. I wouldn't have known, had it not been for this group-I thought it would only be done by <way> bigger businesses than mine and would cost a fortune. I personally think your ads on many of the groupswill go a lonnng way in making guys/gals aware of the need/ease of the process. Guest guest
> how do you get your products tested?? What's the process, and >how much does it cost?? Aerobic Plate Count (Conventional Plate Count Method and Spiral Plate Method) http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~ebam/bam-3.html There are many microbiological labs that will do APC testing. I use Gloria Minnesota Valley Testing Laboratories 1126 North Front Street P.O. Box 249 New Ulm, MN 56073 Tel: FAX: Email: gsamvtl@... but you should know that does APC testing. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Cosmeticinfo/message/22826 Maurice -------------------------------------------------------- Maurice O. Guest guest
, The APC (aerobic plate count) will tell you the number of viable bacteria in your product. There is also the fungal/yeast count which tells you the number of viable fungus or yeast in your product. When I did an internet search on the costs of these tests I found they ranged from $20-$40 each (I made sure to set my price lower than this). However, some members of this list said they have had it done cheaper than that, but I have not found those prices on the internet. To have your product tested you would simply contact a lab and send them your product; they would then test it for you in a mater of a week. Please contact me offlist if you want additional information.
