Guest guest
Joyce.. I loved Xylitol before low oxalate diet came into our lives and I had to eliminate it-and with really significant improvements too I might add. Darn it! But Dr. JM recommends Xylitol and it has other health benefits too. Like I mentioned in another post on LOD list, we use sugar now which I know doesn't work for most of the kids but with a healed gut my son seems to do fine with it and it was the only thing besides the xylitol that I felt safe with. Not saying other things are not OK to use but I just had more of comfort level with xylitol. We use very little sweetener of any kind these days so the regular sugar works great at this point in time. We were sugar free for the whole time however that Dr. JM was treating Slater and for a long time afterwards. I'd still be using xylitol for everything if it weren't for oxalate issues too btw.
